Raymond threw Wilson a warning glance. That was enough to wipe the smirk off his face and get him to focus on the racing circuit.
Noelle's eyes were glued to the cars on the track. The starting pistol sounded, and the light turned green. All the cars peeled out.
As expected, Alexis' modded car instantly became everyone's target. All the other racers were gunning to overtake and surround her.
She had only ever raced in official events. This was completely new to her.
But Alexis kept Noelle's advice in mind. "Don't be afraid of them hitting you. They're way more scared of your car."
She clenched the steering wheel and held her ground. When another car came at her, she didn't swerve away but slammed right back into it. The impact knocked the car right off the track.
She was quick and agile. After the aggressive move, nobody else dared to mess with her. Seeing her opening, she immediately hit the gas.
She might not have participated in any exhibition game, but she was still a national-level racer. Her fundamentals were solid, and that made her fearless. Besides, Noella had her back.
Alexis wasn't sure why, but Noelle made her feel safe. A lot of crazy stuff that happened on the track was exactly what Noelle had warned her about yesterday. Being prepared made it all way less scary.
Just when she thought she had it in the bag, a car surged forward and pinned her against the wall, slowing her down. In that split second, another car blew past the finish line and took first place.
In an instant, her expression was filled with shock, surprise, and anger. Things like this would never happen in an official race.
They were rivals, and it made no sense to help each other out. How could they just gang up on her?
Alexis was just stunned. By the time she pulled into the pit, she was visibly furious. Even with her helmet on, everyone could tell she was in a terrible mood.
She finally understood what they called an exhibition game. The racers didn't play by the rules and used dirty tricks like street punks.
She threw a punch at the air in frustration. Meanwhile, Raymond looked just as grim.
Raymond brought Noelle in to win, and now he had already lost the first race. Even though she fixed his car situation, he was still pretty annoyed.
