Jenna was shocked. "How could you do something like this, Hazel? Ms. Quinn has done nothing but support us and help us get better. Even if you don't like her, you can't just make up lies like that."
Hazel snapped, "Keep your mouth shut!"
She turned to Noelle. "You know better than anyone whether I'm lying or not. I saw you and Coach Haberkorn walk into the hotel together and leave together the next day.
"What other reason would a man and a woman have for checking into a hotel together? Do you expect me to believe that you were just talking?"
People kept glancing at Noelle with curious looks. Over to the side, Shannon looked pretty smug with her arms crossed, waiting to see Noelle crash and burn.
Hazel continued, "Coach Haberkorn has a kid, Ms. Quinn. Don't try to tell me you didn't know he has a family."
She snickered. "You started this, so I'm coming after you. You chose to be the homewrecker and break up a family. I've already reported everything.
"Even Coach Landaal can't cover for you on this. There's no way they're keeping someone who drags the national team's name through the mud."
Noelle didn't expect Hazel to pull something like that. "You have no shame, Hazel."
Alexis snapped, "All you do is run your mouth and make up lies about people. Look in the mirror. You're the one playing games with a bunch of guys, trying to get anything you can out of them. You're the last person who belongs on this team."
Jenna was seeing red too. "That's right. We were supposed to be a team, but you kept stirring up drama and turning us against each other. You're the reason Flame Speed Racing is so divided."
Disappointment was written all over Jayden's face, but he didn't go off on Hazel.
He genuinely liked her and saw her as part of the group. It never crossed his mind that she would let everyone down like this.
Hazel chuckled without a care. "Who cares? My reputation is already ruined. The training camp sent me home to wait for notice. I know I probably won't be coming back, but it is what it is."
She flashed a twisted grin at Noelle. "I sure hope you and Coach Haberkorn can stand up to the task force's investigation, Ms. Quinn. If this all comes out clean, I'll say I'm sorry."
She dragged her luggage over to Noelle, her smile dripping with resentment. "But if something is going on between you two, you won't survive the investigation. The team isn't going to put up with a captain who has no integrity. I guess that makes us even, Noelle."
Hazel burst into laughter, like she could already see Noelle's life falling apart. She grabbed her suitcase and strode off without looking back.
