Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 93

The girl in the frilly pink dress skipped over to Noelle and clung onto her leg. Then, she stared up at her. "You must be Mommy! You're so pretty! Just like an angel!"

Her cuteness made her incredibly endearing.

Noelle immediately recognized her as Hunter's child. She looked toward him as his brows pinched into a frown. "What are you doing here, Bonnie?"

He turned to look for Gale, only to find that he had long disappeared.

Bonnie, with her tiny backpack, fixed Hunter with a solemn look. "I heard you were coming to save Mommy, so I followed you! What if Mommy needs me?"

She pouted. "I didn't come here with Mr. Gale! I didn't ride in his car either! It's not Mr. Gale's fault, Daddy!"

Hunter was at a loss for words.

Gale, who was hiding a short distance away, pressed a hand to his forehead. Bonnie, the child barely out of preschool, wasn't exactly the brightest.

Noelle found the girl adorable. Her pink dress and wide, innocent eyes made her look doll-like. Since she had a child of her own, she was naturally patient with children.

Her voice softened as she crouched down to meet Bonnie at eye level. "You've got the wrong person, sweetie. I'm not your mother. But thank you for caring and coming all this way with your father."

Bonnie pouted and shook her head. "No, you are Mommy." She looked serious. "All the pictures in Daddy's phone are of you. So, you must be Mommy!"

Noelle was taken aback for a split second. Then, she felt flustered.

It was somewhat awkward to hear such words coming from a child.

Bonnie's eyes welled up with tears when Noelle remained silent. "Do you not like me, Mommy? Is that why you don't want me? Is that why you won't come home with me? What don't you like about me, Mommy? I can change! Please don't give me up, Mommy…"

She clung to Noelle, refusing to let go.

Jude found the situation headache-inducing. "Drop her off for the night, Noelle. You can come back to the training camp first thing tomorrow morning. It's already late. It's too risky to be taking the mountain road this late."

Albert yawned. "I'll go on ahead then. You'd better take good care of my boss, Hunter. If I see her with a hair out of place, I'm coming for you."

With that, he signaled for his men to retreat.

Hunter turned to Noelle, struggling to find the right words. "Bonnie grew up without a mother. That's why she wishes for one."

Noelle understood. "Let's get her home first. It's getting late. Kids should've been in bed hours ago," she said coldly.

Bonnie lit up at those words. She clung to Noelle's leg. "You'll come home with me, Mommy? Yay! Let's sit together, Mommy! Will you hold me?"
