Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 94

Hunter's kiss carried a deep, soothing comfort. Noelle tried to break free, but to her surprise, he let her go immediately.

"Don't leave me, Noelle. Please?" Hunter pleaded, his voice tinged with longing.

Despite herself, Noelle felt her heart soften. She knew she shouldn't give in either, but she couldn't maintain her composure around Hunter.

Closing the door behind him, Hunter said, "About Bonnie, I can explain…"

"Forget it." Noelle cut him off without hesitating.

She glanced at him. "That's your personal matter. You don't owe me an explanation."

Hunter knew that she was still upset. Continuing the conversation would only fuel her anger further, so he changed the subject instead.

"I'll cook you something to eat. In the meantime, grab some snacks from the fridge if you're hungry," he said as he headed toward the kitchen.

Watching his back, Noelle felt a swirl of emotions.

She and Hunter weren't even in a relationship yet, and already so many obstacles stood in their way. If they really got together, how could it end well for her?

Noelle could sense that Hunter's identity wasn't ordinary. Otherwise, Maxine wouldn't dare to act so arrogantly, as if she had a powerful backing.

As for Bonnie, she could guess what happened. During the six years she and Hunter were apart, he must have either fallen for someone else or an unplanned pregnancy had happened.

And that was how Bonnie came into the world.

But Noelle didn't want to pry for the truth. Asking would make her seem too curious about his private life, and she didn't want to give him the wrong impression.

After all, she was here on a mission, not to fall in love.

Lost in her thoughts, she barely noticed Hunter placing a bowl of pasta in front of her.

A simple bowl of pasta, topped with ham slices and a sprinkle of herbs. Hunter looked slightly embarrassed. "It's late, and there's not much left in the fridge."

Noelle picked up the fork. "It's alright. Thank you."

She lowered her head and started eating.

Apart from the piece of bread earlier, Noelle hadn't eaten all day. She was famished and polished off the bowl of pasta in no time, savoring every bit of the sauce.

She hadn't expected Hunter to be such a good cook. His cooking made even a simple bowl of pasta taste special.

Hunter said softly, "Stay in the guest room tonight. I'll drop you off at the intensive training camp tomorrow."

Noelle picked up her bag and stood. "I saw a hotel nearby when I came in earlier. I'll just stay there tonight."

She paused for a moment. "Besides, I wouldn't be able to get away if Bonnie keeps on clinging to me tomorrow morning, too."
