Noelle's heart skipped a beat. She could already guess what Hunter was about to say, and tried to stop him, but he spoke first.
"I've known Ms. Quinn for many years. Long before this intensive training camp began, we were already friends. There was never any so-called seduction on her part. If anything, it was me who always harbored feelings for her," he said.
For a moment, the crowd was stunned.
Hunter's words were shockingly bold. He had just openly admitted his feelings for Noelle right in front of everyone.
The crowd couldn't help but wonder, just how much does he like her?
All the women present turned to Noelle, their gazes filled with envy.
To be liked by someone as exceptional as Hunter must feel like such an honor. After all, in all his years as a coach, he hadn't so much as let a single woman near his side.
"But right now, Ms. Quinn just wants to focus on building her racing career, so she didn't return my feelings. I hope everyone can stop speculating and putting pressure on her," he said.
Hunter's expression remained calm. "That's all I have to say."
He glanced at Noelle. "I have some matters to tend to. I'll head to the training hall first."
Noelle froze for a moment, then gave a small nod.
Many from the crowd shared the same look, thrilled as if their favorite ship had just sailed before their eyes.
Did Hunter just report his whereabouts to Noelle?
The flirtatious tension between the two was thick in the air.
A few people trailed after Hunter to say their goodbyes.
Noelle had no interest in joining the commotion and was about to slip away when Derrick blocked her way. "I need a word with you, Ms. Quinn. Could we talk somewhere private?"
Not far off, Nicola caught sight of the scene. She bit her lip and quietly walked away.
Noelle nodded and followed Derrick to a secluded spot. "Go ahead. What is it?"
He looked a little conflicted, yet went on to say, "I'd like to submit a request to the coaching department to merge the Swift Racing team and the Flame Speed Racing team. What do you think, Ms. Quinn?"
Fearing Noelle might refuse, Derrick added, "Now that Coach Haberkorn has left and no new coach has been assigned yet, they might just bring in a substitute coach from another team. Rather than that, why not let our coach train both the Swift Racing team and the Flame Speed Racing team?"
He paused, then continued, "Ever since your last lesson, our skills have improved by leaps and bounds. Our team members are eager to keep learning under you. And naturally, once the teams merge, you'll still be the captain, leading both teams. I promise, they'll all follow your lead without complaints."
Noelle stayed silent for a few seconds before replying, "This should be left for Coach Landaal to decide. If the two teams merge, other teams will definitely be unhappy, and that could stir up trouble. As for me, I don't really mind. After all, we're all in the same intensive training camp, and it's only natural to push each other to improve."
