Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 99

The atmosphere had felt peaceful at first, but once everyone left and it was just Noelle and Hunter, the air grew awkward.

Still, she couldn't just turn around and leave.

After a pause, Noelle said in a low voice, "This happened because of me. I dragged you into it."

The truth was, Hunter didn't need to leave. But with the rumors already spreading, as long as he stayed, the gossip about the two of them would never die down.

He met her gaze. "Don't say that."

There was regret in his voice. "My feelings for you troubled you. I should be responsible for that."

He lowered his gaze, mumbling, "If you ever need anything from me in the future, please promise to reach out."

Hunter took a deep breath, steadying his emotions. "I know you don't want to talk about our relationship right now. I won't force you to choose either. But as long as you look back, I'll be right here behind you.

"As for the International Grand Prix, give it everything you've got and return to the track that belongs to you. I know you have feelings for me, but I won't ask for a reply yet. I just want you to be yourself, to live as freely as you wish," he said.

Hunter's gaze was deep and unwavering.

Noelle's lips parted slightly. How could she not be moved by such honesty?

With her head lowered, she drew in a deep breath. "I'll tell you my answer after the International Grand Prix."

Now, she just wanted to focus on moving forward with no distractions.

That was the best answer Hunter could hope to hear now.

Overwhelmed with emotions, he lowered his head and almost broke into a smile. He managed to hold it in as he tried to stay composed in front of her. But knowing he would see her far less once he left the intensive training camp, he couldn't hold back any longer. Hunter scooped her up around the waist and spun her in a circle.

Noelle let out a soft gasp as Hunter twirled her around several times before finally coming to a stop. Thankfully, her physical training had kept her fit enough to handle this. Otherwise, all that spinning would have left her completely dizzy.

Hunter held her tightly, as if using all his strength to draw her closer, wanting her to become part of him.

In that moment, Noelle felt the depth of his sincerity.

"You'll definitely rise back to the top again," he whispered in her ear. "I know you can do it."

She felt a swell of emotion in her heart.

His words reminded her so much of the old days on the track, when they had cheered each other on.

Six years had passed, yet nothing seemed to have changed at all.

Her eyes reddened. "Okay, I will."
