Chapter 112
But Xavier still couldn’t open the door, because Aveline had locked it from the inside; his key was useless.
Standing beside him, a confused Helena asked, “Don’t tell me the lock is broken?”
Xavier chuckled. “It’s not broken. My wife won’t let me in. But my clothes and personal items are still in there.”
Helena had no choice but to tell him, “Sir, Ma’am already had me move all of your things out.”
Xavier glanced at her, a wry smile on his face. “I see. How ruthless.”
So she hadn’t discussed it with him after all.
Helena said awkwardly, “I’ve moved them all to the room next door.”
Xavier didn’t say anything and went to the room next door.
The next day, Aveline got up early, changed into workout clothes, and went for a morning run.
Downstairs, Helena heard the movement, came out of the kitchen, and said with a strange look, “Ma’am, Mr. Beltran came home last night.”
Aveline just gave a soft “mm” and went out for her run.
Plenty of people were jogging in Parkview Estates, and Aveline took the path through the landscaped garden.
As she ran, a tall figure drew near, and she glanced to the side to see Xavier in a black and white tracksuit.
Xavier glanced at her. “Morning, Mrs. Beltran. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming for a run? I could have wait- ed for you so we could come out together.”
Aveline looked away coldly and kept going. When she reached a fork in the path, she ran down another trail, making it clear she didn’t want to run with Xavier and that he shouldn’t shamelessly follow her.
But Xavier followed her onto the trail, acting as if he was heading this way anyway.
He didn’t get close, though. He just matched her pace from behind, staying about a meter away.
Aveline ran for nearly an hour, then left the landscaped garden and headed home.
Xavier followed.
A little boy on a skateboard shot out from a side path. Aveline was startled and quickly dodged, but she lost her bal-
ance and fell toward the flowerbed.
She quickly put her hand out to catch herself, and a sharp pain shot through it as she scraped it on the edge of the
flowerbed.

Luckily, Xavier was behind her and grabbed her shoulder with one hand, otherwise she might have fallen completely into the flowerbed.
Xavier pulled Aveline up. “Are you okay?”
Then she heard him say in a low voice, “What’s going on? Letting a kid run wild on the path like that?”
Aveline looked down at her scraped palm, which was already bleeding. She frowned, and when she looked up, the lit- tle boy’s mother was apologizing in a panic,
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I couldn’t hold on to him, I’m sorry.
Miss, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital? I’ll pay for the medical bills.”
Aveline saw that the parent’s attitude was decent, and the little boy who caused the trouble looked no older than five or six, with a terrified look on his face.
The cut on her hand didn’t need a hospital visit; she could just clean and bandage it at home. So Aveline said,
“I don’t need to go to the hospital, but you need to keep a better eye on your child in the future.”
“Yes, yes, of course. I’ll definitely watch him more closely from now on. I won’t let him run wild on the path again.”
Then the boy’s mother made him apologize again.
The little boy quickly said he was sorry.
Aveline glanced at Xavier’s grim face and said to him, “Thanks.”
