It already had dozens of likes and quite a few comments.
Xavier looked up coolly. “Mom, you didn’t come here because of this picture, did you? It was just posted.”
Lauren was stunned.
She had, in fact, gotten a message from Charles saying Aveline really did go running with Sebastian. She couldn’t sit still, so she rushed over.
Lauren’s original plan was to get some real dirt on Aveline to show Rupert, and then confront her. But she was also afraid that if Aveline had actually cuckolded Xavier, he would be too humiliated to show his face in public.
Lauren said, “Can’t I come over and have a look?
This house is all decorated, and I haven’t even seen it yet.”
As she spoke, Lauren surveyed the living room. “You didn’t listen to me or your older sister during the renovation. Look at how Aveline decorated it. It’s a total mess, absolutely hideous. I’d be too embarrassed to ever host a party here.”
Xavier said calmly, “Have you eaten breakfast? If not, I’ll ask Helena to make you something.”
With that, he walked towards the stairs.
Lauren quickly grabbed him. “What’s that supposed to mean? Aren’t you angry?”
“It’s just a picture,” Xavier said coolly.
“Just a picture?
Aveline would never have taken a picture like this with another man before.
Besides, that’s Sebastian. He’s not just any man.”
Xavier smiled, “So?”
Lauren studied the smile on Xavier’s face suspiciously. “You really don’t care?
Is it because of Josephine?
You want to divorce Aveline, so you’re letting her cuckold you. That way, you’ll have an excuse to leave her.”
Xavier’s brow furrowed. “Grandpa would never agree to Aveline and I divorcing. Don’t talk like that again, and be es- pecially careful what you say in front of him.”
“Alright, I’m all sweaty. I’m going upstairs to shower.”

Defeated, Lauren let go of Xavier.
Upstairs, Aveline finished her shower, sat at her vanity in a bathrobe putting on skincare, and then blew her hair dry.
Afterwards, she went into the walk–in closet to get dressed.
She had just taken off her bathrobe when she heard the door open. Startled, she quickly put it back on.
In her rush to shower, she’d forgotten to lock the master bedroom door.
Xavier walked into the walk–in closet, looking fresh in a white shirt and black pants, his dark eyes calmly watching
her.
Aveline frowned. “Get out.”
Xavier laughed. “I’m entering my own bedroom, and you’re kicking me out?”
Aveline said coldly, “Xavier, according to the agreement, this villa is mine.”
Xavier kept smiling. “According to the agreement, the villa is yours after the divorce. But we aren’t divorced yet.”
Aveline met his gaze with a cold stare.
Xavier’s smile vanished, his dark eyes deepening as he walked closer to her.
Aveline instinctively backed away. “Xavier, if you have something to say, say it. Stay away from me.”
But Xavier acted as if he hadn’t heard Aveline and continued to close in on her.
Finally, Aveline’s back was against the wardrobe, and she looked up, glaring at him with wide eyes.
Xavier looked down at her with his dark, unreadable eyes. After a moment, he smiled.
“What are you afraid of?
Did you do something you shouldn’t have? A guilty conscience?”
As he spoke, he reached out his hand.
Aveline had nowhere to run and instinctively closed her eyes.
She didn’t know what Xavier was about to do, nor why she had closed her eyes.
His distinctly masculine scent, mixed with the fresh smell of his body wash, a familiar scent she was once obsessed with, washed over her.
“Why are you closing your eyes?”
