Chapter 135
288 Wouchers
Rupert had his own butler, who always took care of him, to serve him during the meal.
The atmosphere during the meal was reasonably harmonious. Halfway through, Aveline received a message from Jas- mine,
[I remember you said Rupert was treating your maternal grandparents to dinner at that Southern River–style Cuisine restaurant tonight?]
Aveline replied, [Yes, why?]
Jasmine sent a screenshot. [Saw this on Marjorie’s Social Feed.]
Aveline opened it and saw a photo of Marjorie with Josephine and Courtney, with the caption:
[Steven treated us to authentic Southern River–style Cuisine. His mom is so young and gorgeous, very classy. No wonder Steven is so good–looking.]
Judging by the private dining room and the location tag, Josephine and Courtney were indeed at this Southern River- style restaurant.
Aveline’s expression turned cold, and she looked over at Xavier.
Xavier seemed to sense her icy gaze, looking up to meet her eyes.
He gave her a “What’s wrong?” look.
Aveline stood up, “Excuse me, I need to take a call.”
Then she gave Xavier another look and walked out of the private dining room.
Xavier understood she wanted to talk to him, so he also got up and followed her out.
Xavier left the private dining room, closed the door, and walked up to Aveline. His dark, deep eyes met her cold stare as he said flatly,
“What’s wrong? Is there something you don’t like about dinner?”
Aveline said coldly, “Why are Josephine and Courtney here?”
Xavier was taken aback, then asked, “They’re here?”
Aveline sneered, “Don’t play dumb with me. I don’t believe they just happened to be dining here tonight by coinci- dence.
I warned you to keep them away from my maternal grandparents.”

Chapter 135
11 ***
Xavier must have told Josephine that Rupert was treating her maternal grandparents to dinner tonight, so Josephine and Courtney deliberately came here to eat just to spite them.
Marjorie’s post on her Social Feed wasn’t accidental; it was intentional.
And who knows what tricks Josephine and Courtney, that mother–daughter pair, will pull next.
Xavier replied to Aveline, “Even if they are really eating here, they’re in another private dining room. They won’t ap- pear in front of your maternal grandparents.”
Aveline said coldly, “Since you don’t care at all about my maternal grandparents‘ feelings, if Josephine and Courtney cause any trouble, I won’t care about your family’s feelings either. So don’t blame me when it happens.”
With that, she turned to head back to the private dining room.
Just then, the door of the private dining room next door opened, and Jacob walked out. “Ah, I thought I heard your voices from inside. It really is you.”
“Aveline, Xavier, are you two eating here too?
We saw your car in the parking lot, and Aunt Courtney suggested we find out which room you were in to come say
We also saw Rupert’s car. Is he here too?”
Jacob chattered on as he walked up to Aveline and Xavier.
Aveline shot him a cold look, ignored Jacob, opened the door to their private dining room, and went inside.
The moment she closed the door, she heard Jacob’s angry voice complaining, “Look at that daughter. It was a waste raising her.”
Less than a minute later, Xavier came in too. He sat back down in his seat beside Aveline and glanced at her.
Aveline ignored him and put some food on Paulina’s plate.
About ten minutes later, there was a knock on the private dining room door. The Beltran family’s butler, assuming it was a waiter, said,
“Come in.”
