Chapter 150
You were eavesdropping on my mom and aunt at the convalescent home this afternoon.”
Aveline walked to the front of the Crescent Moon private dining room and said coldly, “This is a hotel hallway, not your living room.”
After speaking, she ignored Leona’s reaction, opened the door, and walked in.
Only Xavier was in the private dining room. Rupert and Lauren hadn’t arrived yet, and Brielle was nowhere to be
seen.
Xavier was looking at his phone. Hearing the noise, he glanced up at Aveline and said lightly, “I was just about to call you.”
With that, he put his phone in his pocket.
Aveline walked to another sofa and sat down, a good distance away from Xavier, and said coolly:
“Let me make this clear. If Josephine comes in, don’t blame me for disrespecting the Patriarch. I will leave.”
Xavier’s dark eyes watched her intently. “What are you talking about? This is coming out of nowhere.”
Aveline ignored him and took out her phone to scroll through her Social Feed.
Just then, Leona came in, shot Aveline a nasty look, and then walked up to Xavier.
“Josephine happens to be here too. Let’s ask her to join us for dinner.”
Hearing this, Xavier looked over at Aveline.
Aveline heard, of course, but she ignored the siblings, her eyes still fixed on her phone screen.
She had already warned Xavier, and she meant what she said. He’d better not test her.
When Leona saw Xavier look at Aveline, she said irritably, “Why are you looking at her? Is she the one in charge here?”
A smirk appeared on Aveline’s lips.
She actually hoped Xavier would let Josephine in. Then she would leave immediately, and see how Xavier explained it to Rupert.
It wouldn’t matter if Rupert and Lauren thought she was being unreasonable. Maybe this way, Rupert would actually agree to their divorce, and Xavier would stop making things difficult and just sign the papers.
Xavier just said, “Don’t make the Patriarch angry.”

Chapter 150
As he spoke, he got up and walked out of the private dining room.
Aveline knew he was going out to placate Josephine.

Leona, however, walked to within a few steps of Aveline and said in a hostile tone, “Josephine is your sister. She just happens to be here. You should have been the one to suggest she join us. If you had, the Patriarch wouldn’t have got- ten angry.”
“Why are you so heartless? You can’t even tolerate your own sister.”
Aveline’s finger swiped across her phone. Without looking up at her, she said coldly, “You’re mistaken. I don’t have a sister. Jacob does have an illegitimate daughter, but she has nothing to do with me.”
Leona huffed, about to say more, but just then the door to the room opened. Rupert and Lauren walked in, so she had to shut her mouth.
Aveline stood up and greeted Rupert.
Rupert nodded. “Aveline, you’re here so early. Have you been waiting long?”
As he spoke, he walked over and sat on the sofa near Aveline.
Aveline replied to him, “I just got here.”
“Good, have a seat.
Where’s Xavier? Why don’t I see him?”
Aveline sat down but didn’t answer.
Lauren frowned at Aveline and said, “Didn’t Xavier get here a while ago?”
Leona shot Aveline an annoyed look. “He had to step out for something. He’ll be back in a bit.”
Aveline found it amusing.
Didn’t Leona want to invite Josephine to dinner? Why didn’t she have the guts to say Xavier went to find Josephine?
Rupert stood up. “Let’s have them serve the food. We’re not waiting for him.”
