Chapter 192
Josephine smiled, “That’s what I was thinking too. As if Aveline can control what I call Xav in private. Hmph.”
Back at the Beltran Hotel, Aveline dropped her luggage in her room and then headed out to the construction site.
Helena drove Aveline to the site.
Aveline told her, “You can go back to the city. I’m not pregnant, and my concussion is gone. You don’t need to stay here and take care of me anymore.”
Helena replied, “Ma’am, I can’t leave without Mr. Beltran’s permission.”
Aveline fell silent. It wasn’t her business anyway; the paid Helena’s salary.
On the way, she called Miranda to tell her she was fine and out of the hospital. She also asked about her materna‘ grandparents and was relieved to hear they were doing well.
When she got to the site, Aveline threw herself into her work, but Jasmine and Julian were worried and made her stay in the office, forbidding her from going to the construction area.
Aveline picked up her phone and sent texts to Sebastian and Fiona, telling them she was out of the hospital.
Sebastian replied quickly: [Didn’t I tell you to rest for a couple more days?],
Aveline: [I’m fine, don’t worry.]
Sebastian: [I’m still at Mount Ardwood. Let’s have lunch together. I’m not heading back to the city until this after- noon.]
Aveline: [Okay.]
Later, Fiona came to the office at the site, her face grim.
Aveline felt a sense of unease and quickly asked her, “What’s wrong? Is there a change in the case?”
Fiona poured herself a glass of water and drank it before saying, “Hmph, do you know what Xavier did?
That guy actually had the’s technicians analyze the surveillance video.”
Aveline frowned slightly. “How do you know? Xavier should have kept this quiet.
What did they find out?”
Fiona snorted again. “He’s trying to help Josephine, so of course he’d hide it. It’s just that Gerald’s assistant is trying to hit on me, so I got it out of him.”
Aveline: “…Gerald’s assistant is trying to hit on you?”

“Heh, you think he’s punching above his weight?
Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is, even though Xavier tried to interfere, you can still see that Eileen appeared to move her foot. The technicians are still analyzing it.”
“Can the police see it?”
Fiona nodded. “Of course. I had my assistant wait at the police station for updates, and she just told me the police no- ticed the suspicious part too.
However, this ‘suspicion‘ is debatable. The police might lean towards mediation, but you’re determined to press charges, right?”
Aveline nodded without hesitation.
Fiona reminded her, “This ‘suspicion‘ is debatable. It’ll be a fight in court, and it’ll all come down to the judge’s rul- ing.”
“I know. Just do your best. No matter what, it’ll be good to teach Eileen a lesson.”
Fiona slammed her hand on the desk and said fiercely, “We have to make Eileen go to jail. This is too much. If you hadn’t been lucky, you could have been killed.”
Fiona didn’t leave. She stayed in the office and waited for Aveline, Jasmine, and Julian to finish work, and the four of them went back to the Beltran Hotel for lunch with Sebastian.
At noon, Xavier returned to his office after a meeting. He sat on the sofa, closed his eyes, and rubbed his forehead. Claude Steele followed him in. “Mr. Beltran, you asked me to take care of that photo and the report…”
Xavier didn’t open his eyes, but he lowered his hand and said calmly, “Yes, what about it?”
