Aveline turned to look at the door, wondering who it could be at this time.
Jasmine?
Xavier went to open the door. It was Amy, the driver. “Mr. Beltran, your clothes.”
Xavier took them. “You can go get some breakfast.”
“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”
Xavier closed the door, came back, and tossed the suit, shirt, and other clothes the driver had brought onto the bed.
Aveline walked over, gathered them all up, then went to the window and threw them all out onto the balcony.
When she turned back, Xavier was staring at her. As she faced him, a humorless smile played on his lips.
“Aveline, what’s with all these games? You know this is childish, right?”
Aveline said coldly, “If you don’t want me to play these childish games, then stay away from me.”
“Next time, I’ll throw them all off the balcony.”
Xavier sat on the bed. “Fine. Sit down. Let’s talk now.”
Aveline didn’t sit. She just stood there, staring at him coldly.
Xavier looked her up and down and asked, “What do you want?”
Aveline answered without hesitation. “A divorce.”
Xavier’s eyes darkened. “We’ll talk about this after the Patriarch’s birthday banquet.”
“If your maternal grandparents don’t want to go to the birthday banquet, we have to respect their decision. But you have to go.”
Aveline was firm. “Impossible.”
Xavier didn’t know if her words had left him speechless with anger. He stared at her for a moment before saying:
“We’re not divorced yet. You have to go to his birthday celebration.”
A mocking smile touched Aveline’s lips. “He knows I want a divorce.”
“But he doesn’t approve of our divorce. He doesn’t want us to divorce.”
“Xavier, just because your family doesn’t approve of the divorce, I can’t divorce you?

What kind of logic is that?”
Aveline’s voice rose.
Just then, the phone in Xavier’s hand started ringing.
He didn’t answer it, his gaze fixed on her as if he couldn’t look away.
After a moment, the ringing continued. Aveline walked over, intending to grab the phone and smash it again.
Xavier knew what she was about to do. He glanced down, saw it was Josephine calling, and rejected the call.
Aveline stopped a few steps away from him. “We’re done talking. You can go now.”
“I promise we can talk about the divorce after the birthday banquet. You have to be there for Grandpa’s birthday cele- bration on Friday night.”
“And let him announce that we got our marriage certificate?
Heh, impossible.”
Xavier silently watched the sarcastic curve of Aveline’s lips. After a long moment, he said:
“We have our marriage certificate. That’s a fact. Whether it’s announced or not, you can’t erase that fact. Even if you divorce me and remarry, you can’t erase the fact that you were married to me.”
Aveline said coldly, “Xavier, you can get the hell out.”
Xavier glanced at the coldness in her beautiful eyes, then looked down and rubbed his forehead.
“Fine. I’ll convince Grandpa not to announce it. Just attend the birthday celebration as a guest.‘
“What guest?
What do I have to do with the?”

Other than the “Mrs. Beltran” title that Aveline was desperate to get rid of, what other connection could she have with
the?
Xavier looked up at her with a half–smile. “You’re the lead architect for the’s Mount Ardwood theme park. The Patri- arch of the is having his birthday celebration, so of course we have to invite you for a drink. I hope you’ll do us the honor.”
