Xavier hadn’t gone far and heard what Aveline and Jasmine said. His voice came from ahead of them.
“I came over last night.”
Aveline shot a cold glare at his back.
Jasmine: “…”
…
Julian glanced at Aveline, was silent for a moment, then said, “Let’s go get breakfast.”
Aveline nodded, and the three of them walked towards the elevator.
Xavier was already waiting in front of the elevator, having pressed the down button.
Seeing Aveline and the others approach, he glanced at her.
Aveline ignored him, staring fixedly at the elevator numbers going up.
Xavier’s phone rang. He took it out of his pocket, and this time, he answered it.
“Hello, what’s the emergency?”
“Sexual assault?”
“Are you sure?”
Hearing the words “sexual assault,” Aveline couldn’t help but glance up at Xavier.
Josephine was sexually assaulted?
Ha, isn’t she always the one assaulting people?
Xavier’s voice turned slightly cold, “You’re his lawyer, and you’re asking me what to do?”
“Shouldn’t you be at the detention center right now?”
Hearing this, Aveline knew it wasn’t about Josephine, but Gerald.
That means Eileen was the one who reported being sexually assaulted.
Gerald was really something else. He’s a lawyer, calling to ask Xavier what to do.
He probably wants Xavier to pull some strings to get Eileen released early.
Aveline noticed Jasmine looking over and met her gaze.

Jasmine had a teasing look on her face.
Xavier hung up the phone and said to Aveline, “Eileen said she was sexually assaulted at the detention center.”
Aveline was cold. “Is that so?
The other day she caused a scene at the construction site, sat on the ground screaming she’d been sexually assaulted, and when the officer watched the security footage, guess what happened?”
As she spoke, she looked at Xavier with a smirk.
Xavier met her gaze, his eyes cool.
Jasmine smiled and said, “Do you even need to guess?
She got detained, didn’t she?”
Ignoring Jasmine, Xavier looked at Aveline and asked, “Want to come with me and see?”
“You’re so kind, Mr. Beltran, but I’m not.
I’m heartless and cruel.”
The elevator doors opened, and Aveline pulled Jasmine inside, not forgetting to call out to Julian, “Julian.”
Xavier naturally followed them into the elevator.
Then he lowered his eyes and stared at Aveline.
The elevator was going down, and Aveline felt like his stare was about to burn a hole in her face. Jasmine and Julian exchanged an awkward glance.
Aveline looked up and glared coldly at Xavier. “What’s your problem? Are you using me for target practice?”
Xavier chuckled. “I was just thinking, you’re not a kind person. You’re heartless and cruel. Why would you save me?”
This was the second or third time Xavier had brought up her saving him. She couldn’t tell if he was teasing or deliber- ately testing her.
Aveline coldly looked away, not bothering to guess what he was thinking.
Anyway, if Xavier thought she had pulled some trick back then and pretended to be his savior, she didn’t care any-
more.
Xavier stopped staring at Aveline and looked blankly at the elevator doors.
The reflection in the doors showed the four figures inside the car; Xavier looked tall and imposing.
Aveline glanced at it, then looked up at the floor numbers, her expression indifferent.
The elevator doors opened. Xavier was standing at the front, but he stepped aside to let Aveline exit first.
