Chapter 282
Aveline lifted her foot and swiftly kicked Xavier in the shin.
“Damn it!”
Xavier cried out, bending over in pain, his hand instinctively going to the shin Aveline had kicked.
Aveline was wearing slightly pointed high heels, so the kick was bound to hurt, especially on the shinbone.
Xavier looked up at her. “You really have the heart to be that cruel.”
Aveline replied coldly, “If you can be so shameless, why can’t I be cruel?”
After speaking, she tried to walk around Xavier, but she moved too quickly, and her high heel caught on her dress. She lost her balance and was about to fall.
Panicked, Aveline reached for the balcony railing, but it was too far away for her to grab.
Xavier reached out and caught Aveline by the waist, using his other hand to steady her by the shoulder.
At the same time, he said in a low voice, “Can’t you walk properly? Don’t give yourself another
concussion.
Once Aveline was steady, she turned and pushed Xavier in the chest.
Xavier was caught off guard and stumbled backward, but he worked out regularly and was agile. With his long arms and legs, he managed to grab the railing.
But his body still scraped against the railing.
He stared at Aveline with his dark, deep eyes, saying nothing.
Aveline said coldly, “Don’t worry. You’re not the one who gave me a concussion, so I won’t falsely accuse you of attempted murder.
With that, she turned and walked away, going back inside.
She saw Valentina holding a small plate with some pastries and fruit on it.

Valentina saw Aveline too and stopped. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but then closed it, her expression strange.
Aveline walked up to her and patted her head. “What’s wrong, Valentina?”
Valentina gestured for Aveline to come closer so she could whisper to her.
Aveline crouched down, and Valentina leaned in to whisper, “Mommy said I can’t call you Auntie at Great–Grandpa’s birthday banquet tonight.”
Aveline froze for a moment, then she understood.
It must be because she didn’t allow the to announce her marriage certificate with Xavier tonight, so Brielle was worried that if Valentina called her Auntie, the guests would hear, find it strange, and ask questions.
Aveline sighed inwardly and said gently to Valentina, “Yes, that’s because your uncle and I haven’t announced our marriage yet, so you can’t call me Auntie in front of other people.”
Valentina asked, “Then when can you announce it?”
Aveline paused, not giving her an answer. She just said, “Why are you by yourself? Where’s your mommy?”
Valentina replied, “I’m a big girl now. I can get my own food.”
Aveline nodded.
This was the family home, and with staff around, it was no problem for Valentina to be on her
own.
Just then, the door to the living room on the first floor opened, and Brielle came out.
Seeing Aveline and Valentina together, she waved. “Aveline, come on over. The Patriarch was just asking about you.”
Aveline had no choice but to take the plate for Valentina, and they walked toward the living room together
She was planning to leave anyway, so this was a good chance to say goodbye to the Patriarch.
In the living room, Lauren, Aunt, and Jason Beltran were keeping Rupert company
Jason was Jonathan’s only son, two years younger than Xavier, and was the general manager of the Kralville branch office.

Aveline hadn’t seen him at the party earlier and figured he had just rushed back from Kralville.
