Valentina happily threw her hands in the air.
Then she took the phone back from Xavier and sent a message to Aveline.
[Auntie, Uncle agreed to take me to your place. Tell me your address.]
Aveline had only mentioned it casually and didn’t expect Xavier to agree; she had thought he would refuse.
But she didn’t mind Valentina staying at her studio for the night, so she replied:
[Auntie is still at the BBQ restaurant, in private dining room 203. You can come here and we can go home together.]
Valentina quickly told Xavier.
Xavier nodded. “We’re in private dining room 202. Tell your auntie to let us know when she’s leaving.”
Valentina quickly sent a message to Aveline.
Aveline replied that she would.
Fiona noticed Aveline’s expression and leaned closer. “What’s wrong? Is Xavier still bothering you?”
Aveline said calmly, “He’s sending Valentina over to my place.”
She had only mentioned it casually, thinking Xavier wouldn’t agree, but he actually did.
He’s disliked her so much all these years, and now they’re getting a divorce. Why would he let his most beloved niece spend the night at her place?
Fiona hit the nail on the head. “Valentina is getting in the way of his alone time with Josephine.”
Sebastian glanced at the two of them, then impassively picked up his glass and took a sip of wine.
Less than half an hour later, while Aveline was in the middle of a lively chat with Sebastian and Fiona, Xavier called.
Aveline thought it was Valentina calling, so she picked up her phone and answered, “Hello, Valentina.”
Xavier’s deep, rich voice came through the phone, “It’s getting late. Valentina needs to go back, take a bath, and go to sleep.”
Aveline: “…Just bring her to private dining room 203.”
Xavier: “You’ve been drinking, haven’t you?”

Aveline understood he was worried she would drive. “I’ll call a designated driver service.”
Xavier: “There’s no way I’m letting Valentina ride in a car driven by a stranger. She’ll ride with me. You can do what- ever you want with your car.
We’re waiting for you in the parking lot, so hurry up and come out.”
If she weren’t afraid of hurting Valentina’s feelings, Aveline would have hung up and ignored the domineering man.
“Got it.”
Aveline replied irritably before hanging up.
Then, with an apologetic look, she explained to Sebastian and Fiona that she had to leave early.
Fiona rolled her eyes. “Is Xavier treating you like a nanny now?”
Don’t do this again. You’re divorced, so you’re not Valentina’s aunt anymore.”
Aveline smiled faintly. “I know.”
Of course she knew it wouldn’t happen again, but she couldn’t just refuse Valentina outright. She should explain it to her properly.
Sebastian looked at her. “It’s okay, you can go ahead. Fiona and I will stay a bit longer before we leave.”
Aveline apologized again, then grabbed her purse and left the private dining room.
Just then, Xavier, Josephine, and Valentina also came out of the private dining room next door. When Valentina saw Aveline, she happily ran towards her,
“Auntie.”
Aveline didn’t even look at Xavier and Josephine. She gave Valentina a smile and took her hand.
Valentina smelled a faint scent of alcohol and asked, “Auntie, did you drink?”
Aveline nodded. “Mhm, I had a little.”
Valentina smiled. “Even after drinking, you still smell good, Auntie.”
Aveline smiled.
