Chapter 47
Xavier didn’t message her again.
The next morning, Jasmine and Julian came to work. Julian said, “I contacted a college classmate last night to find out about Dylan.”
Jasmine quickly asked, “And? What company is he at now?”
Julian glanced at Aveline and said, “He went to work for a company in Kralville after graduation. He came back re- cently, and I heard he’s planning to start a company with his cousin. Dylan’s only cousin is Josephine, right?”
As far as Aveline knew, that was right, so she nodded.
Jasmine scoffed, “No wonder Josephine wanted to introduce him to Xavier. It’s not just because they’re relatives, there’s a business connection too.”
Aveline said, “Given Dylan’s family background, he probably doesn’t have the funds to start a company, so he has to rely on Josephine’s investment.”
To
put
it bluntly, he’s relying on the Sutton family’s investment. Courtney’s and Josephine’s money all comes from the Sutton family.
Jasmine looked at Aveline. “If that’s the case, then Xavier might really give the project to Dylan to support Josephine’s career.”
“First investing in her movies, now supporting her in opening a design firm. Xavier is such a great guy.”
Jasmine’s tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Realizing Aveline might be uncomfortable hearing that, she quickly glanced at her and pressed her lips together.
Julian shot her a glare, blaming her for her big mouth.
Aveline didn’t seem to mind, smiling faintly. “Don’t overthink it. We’ll know the result this afternoon when we meet with the project director, Simon.
Let’s get to work.”
Regardless, they first had to focus on making the design proposal for Crestmark as perfect as possible.
After lunch, at two in the afternoon, the three of them took Julian’s car to The Croft Tower.
They had originally planned to pick up Bernard from the Beltran Hotel, but Bernard said the had sent a car for him.
Jasmine said to Aveline, “The Beltran Group values Bernard so much, maybe they’ll also value the person he recom- mended.”

Chapter 47
Julian looked at Aveline. After all, he didn’t know Xavier as a person, but she should.
Aveline said lightly, “Let’s hope so.”
They arrived at The Croft Tower at two–forty. Bernard hadn’t arrived yet, so they sat in the lobby’s sofa area to wait.
A few minutes later, through the floor–to–ceiling windows, they saw Bernard get out of a black BMW that had just pulled up.
At the same time, Simon, the project director for the Mount Ardwood theme park, also came down from upstairs, ac- companied by two members of his team. They met Bernard in the lobby, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries.
Aveline and the other two hurried over.
Simon was taken aback when he saw Aveline. He had seen her before and knew she was engaged to Xavier, but he didn’t know they were married.
Aveline greeted him, “Mr. Barron.”
Simon hid his surprise and gave a slight nod. “Ms. Sutton.”
At the same time, he wondered why Aveline was here. She must be looking for Xavier.
This annoyed him, because he had heard from the CEO’s executive assistant, Claude Steele, that Xavier didn’t care for his fiancée because she was a handful.
So after the greeting, he looked away and said to Bernard, “Mr. Clarke, let’s go to the Tea Lounge.”
Bernard nodded. “Oh, so you know my schoolmate, Mr. Barron. Then let me introduce the other two. This is Jasmine, and this is Julian, both talented graduates from my university.”
Simon was stunned again. “Ms. Sutton is your schoolmate, Mr. Clarke?”
“Yes, we all graduated from the architecture department at Entora University.”
“Then the architect you wanted to recommend is Ms. Sutton?”
“That’s right. I’ll show you her resume in a bit. You’ll definitely be impressed.”
