Chapter 82
Xavier glanced at Aveline but said nothing, then got up and left.
Aveline didn’t even look at him.
Paulina looked at her. “Aveline, why didn’t you walk him out?”
Aveline said coolly, “He’s not a toddler learning to walk. It’s not like he’s going to stumble and fall.”
Paulina and Collin exchanged a glance, and she added, “Aveline, you seem so cold toward Xavier.
What’s going on with you two?”
Aveline reassured the elderly couple, “Don’t you two worry about it. I’m fine. Work is going well, I’m eating and sleeping well. I’m doing great.”
Collin thought for a moment, then said, “Xavier said his grandfather is back from abroad. Do you think we should in- vite his grandfather for a meal? After all, since you got your marriage certificate, we still haven’t met with the Zim- merman family for a meal.”
Aveline shook her head. “That’s not necessary. If a meeting is needed, the Zimmerman family will bring it up them- selves. We don’t need to be the ones to do it.”
Paulina grew a little anxious. “Is that mother–in–law of yours giving you a hard time again?”
Aveline patted her grandmother’s hand. “I told you not to worry, and I really mean it. Don’t worry, Grandpa, Grandma Sutton. Things will only get better for me, I promise.”
Once she was divorced, she wouldn’t have any more troubles. The future was bright.
Miranda kept trying to catch Aveline’s eye, and she could tell Miranda had something to say to her.
Sure enough, after her grandparents went for their nap, Miranda walked up to Aveline and said, “When Mr. Beltran was on the phone earlier, I was pouring him tea and overheard. It was a young woman on the other end, and her voice sounded familiar.”
Hearing Miranda say that, Aveline knew it must have been Josephine.
She gave a faint smile. “Is that so?
It doesn’t matter. Don’t worry about it.”
Seeing Aveline didn’t mind, Miranda’s suspicions faded, and she said with a smile:
“I was overthinking. I’ll get back to my work.”

Chapter 82
Aveline gave a faint smile and nodded.
Miranda didn’t think much of it. Xavier and Josephine were so obvious, even a fool could see it.
Aveline had just been deceiving herself before.
Aveline didn’t have the habit of taking afternoon naps, so she casually opened WhatsApp on her phone.
Then she saw a few more comments under the picture she had posted of Fiona and Sebastian’s morning run.
Sebastian: [Help me talk some sense into this drunk.]
Fiona: [Watch your mouth, or I won’t go on morning runs with you anymore.]
Sebastian: [It’s fine, someone else will join me.]
Fiona: [Oh yeah? Who?]
Sebastian: [Aveline.]
Fiona: [Aveline’s an indoor person.]
Sebastian: [Ask her if you don’t believe me.]
Finally, their conversation was ended by a comment from Xavier: [Mr. Harmon, how about I join you?]
Sebastian replied to Xavier: [I’m flattered.]
288 Vouchers
After reading, Aveline frowned, wondering if Xavier was just bored lately, suddenly taking an interest in liking and commenting on her Social Feed.
After having dinner with her maternal grandparents, Aveline went to pick up the birthday cake she had ordered, then drove to the Velvet Club.
When she got to the club, Aveline ran into Sebastian right after getting out of her car. She was surprised, “Mr. Har- mon, you’re here too?”
Sebastian walked toward her with a smile, “Yeah, it’s Fiona’s birthday. Of course I had to come.”
After speaking, he looked down at the cake in Aveline’s hand, “Is that the birthday cake for Fiona?”
Aveline nodded, “Yes, it’s chocolate, her favorite flavor.”
Sebastian reached out his hand, “Let me get that.”
“It’s okay, Mr. Harmon. I’ve got it.”
