Chapter 314
Soon, my head lulled to the side, and I was almost asleep when I sensed that someone was staring at me. I opened my eyes and smiled when I saw that it was Alexander.
“Your dinner is ready,” he said and smirked.
He helped me into the dining room, and my eyes widened when I saw that he had set the table for two. In the middle was a large bowl of spaghetti, a basket of garlic bread, and a caesar salad. He had even poured us glasses of chilled red wine.
“Wow, how long was I asleep for?” I asked as he held out my chair for me.
Alexander chuckled. “Around forty minutes. You had everything in your fridge. I just threw it all together.”
I took a sip of wine, and the fruity flavor exploded onto my tongue. “What happened to breakfast for dinner?”
“I thought you could use something more substantial, like pasta,” he said.
I loaded my plate and dug in. “This is amazing,” I said when I was halfway finished and wiped my face with my napkin. “Have you always known how to cook?”
“No, I looked up a video on how to cook a simple spaghetti,” he admitted.
His confession made me grin.
As I picked up my second garlic bread, I wondered why Alexander had hired Mike to cook for him if he could manage just fine in the kitchen.
I couldn’t get this question out of my mind, so I asked Alexander.
He took a sip from his wineglass before he answered. “I’m simply too busy to cook,” he answered. “You know as well as anyone how many hours I put into my company. If I didn’t have a chef, I would only have time to prepare a microwave meal for myself.”
I put down my fork and shook my head.
“What’s wrong?” he asked and leaned forward in concern.

“I’m just disappointed. Now that I know that you can cook, that means you’re good at everything,” I admitted and sighed.
He chuckled. “Good, I’m glad that you have finally accepted that as fact.”
put another bite of spaghetti into my mouth as Alexander continued.
“Olivia, when you say that I’m good at everything…” He looked up at me, his eyes full of desire. “Do you mean…everything?”
His words made me suddenly inhale. My face turned red as I started choking on my bite of spaghetti.
*Olivia*
Alexander leaped to his feet. “Olivia, are you alright?”
I began to cough and reached for my water glass. Finally, I managed to swallow. “Y–yes,” I gasped. “I’m fine.”
He came over to my chair anyway and gently rubbed small circles on my back. I couldn’t help but lean into him.
Once my breathing was back to normal, I cleared my throat and thanked him. His warm hand kept rubbing circles on my back. Slowly, he leaned down and put his lips beside my ear.
“When you’re finished eating, do you want to get ready for bed while I clean up?” he whispered.
“Yes,” I breathed out as a shiver ran up my spine. “I’m full, actually.”
I needed to get away from him at that moment, or I might do something insane like grab his face and kiss him.
