Chapter 252
Rose could tell Troy was seriously pissed off. ‘He’s really angry,‘ she thought,
but at the same time, she knew he was just talking nonsense out of anger. ‘He’s just saying whatever comes to mind.‘
So she raised her voice and snapped, “If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and hook up with some random woman!”
Troy snapped back. “Go ahead? Sleeping with a woman? Please–like that’s even difficult for me!”
With that, he stood up and stormed out of the hospital room.
Rose just sat there and watched him leave, not making any move to stop him.
But just a few minutes later, Troy came slinking back into the room, looking totally defeated.
Rose couldn’t help but laugh when she saw him. “Wow, that was quick. Already finished?” she teased.
Troy plopped down on the stool, smacking himself in the face with his hand. “I hate how loyal I am,” he muttered.

Rose burst out laughing. “You know, being loyal doesn’t always get you anything good, and those who mess around with love don’t always end up paying for it.”
Troy didn’t want to listen to her harsh words, so he clamped his hands over his ears.
But as soon as his fingers brushed his ear, Teresa suddenly appeared in his mind.
He remembered how he’d bitten her ear before he left.
Just thinking about that made him feel a little better.
The next morning, Naomi finally wrapped up the first phase of her research.
She’d powered through the whole night, and at last, the preliminary work was done.
Good thing all her numbers lined up–no dreaded do–over this time.
As soon as she stepped out of the lab, she spotted Hector not too far away.
He must’ve just come from Cedric Judd’s office, a folder in hand. His long coat showed off his tall, athletic frame.
Riverdale was all foggy that winter morning, the mist drifting down like a light drizzle and landing on Hector’s shoulders.
He moved through the haze, his figure cutting a sharp, upright silhouette against the pale gray dawn.
Right then Naomi felt her heart do a little somersault.
Hector was just about to leave campus when a girl suddenly blocked his way. “Hector!” she called out
She looked fresh–faced and young, with an air of innocence about her.
Hector stopped, looking at her, puzzled. “What’s up?”
Blushing, the girl thrust a small bag towards him. “Hector, I made these cookies myself. Would you try some?” she stammered.
Naomi hung back a little, quietly taking in the scene as it played out before her.
It was obvious Hector understood what the girl was really trying to say.
Still, he shook his head and gave her a polite smile. “Thanks, but cookies aren’t really my thing,‘ he replied.
Then, without another word, he headed off toward the campus gates.
But Naomi couldn’t hold back anymore. She flipped her long hair back and called out, “Hector”
Hector turned to see who it was

Chapter 252
When he realized it was Naomi, he looked genuinely caught off guard.
While he was still stunned, Naomi slowly walked over to him.

Naomi, tall and slender, carried an undeniable presence–standing next to the girl with the cookies, she seemed almost overpowering.
But Hector looked at her with that same chilly, detached stare. His voice was just as frosty as his gaze when he asked, “Do you need something?”
You could easily hear that Hector’s tone to Naomi was even colder than he’d used with the cookie girl.
Naomi hesitated, feeling even her strongest aura and confidence begin to chip away under Hector’s frosty attitude.
Even so, she couldn’t help but try, her tone tentative. “Want to grab a meal together?”
Hector glanced at her, his response as frosty as ever. “I like eating by myself.”
The girl with the cookies was still lingering, but Naomi wasn’t backing down–she offered him a confident, dazzling smile. “Let me buy you lunch, Hector. It’s the least I can do to thank you for helping me come up with a research topic.”
Those kinds of words could easily be misunderstood, but Hector didn’t even blink. He replied, “Professor Judd asked, so of course I helped.”
That left no room for doubt–he made it clear he was only helping Cedric, not Naomi herself.
The girl with the cookies had looked shy and insecure when Naomi first showed up, but seeing how Hector brushed her off, her confidence soared.
Naomi, feeling totally embarrassed by Hector shutting her down in front of everyone, blurted out, “Hector, you…”
But Hector didn’t even let her finish. Without waiting for a reply, he said, “If that’s all, I’ll be going.”
With that, he turned around and walked away.
Naomi reached out without thinking and grabbed Hector’s sleeve. “Hector, do you… do you hate me?” she blurted out.
He turned around, his expression icy. “Yeah. I do.”
Naomi just stared at him, stunned.
Hector looked her square in the eye. “There was a time I was wowed by your talent. You play some incredible music–no arguing that, it really pulls people in. But you know better than anyone what you’ve done. I don’t need to spell it out for you, do I?”
Naomi stared at Hector in stunned silence, not able to say a single word.
Hector was done talking; without looking back, he turned and walked straight out of campus.
Still refusing to back down, Naomi shouted after him, “Is it because of Teresa? Is that why you can’t stand me?”
Hector didn’t reply, didn’t slow down–just kept going, leaving her behind.
Watching Hector walk away, Naomi simmered with anger and jealousy, her emotions all tangled up inside.
All thanks to Teresa, she thought bitterly. “The guy who used to practically worship me now can’t even stand to look at me.
She was so furious her chest felt tight, her breath coming quick and shallow
After finally cooling off, she stepped out into the misty morning, heading off campus alone.
Just as she reached the gate, she spotted Charles’s can waiting by the curb.
Back then, every time she caught sight of his car, she almost wanted to run straight over–it used to make her pulse race.
But now, the sight barely stirred anything in her
Charles was so completely under her control these days, it had stopped feeling exciting altogether
These days, Naumi craved the attention of Troy and Hector far more than anything Charles could offer her—he just didn’t excite her
