When Your Cheating Husband's Dream Become Your Divorce Evidence novel Chapter 39

Chapter 8

“Mr. Blackstone… I thought…”

If I’d been sober, 1 would’ve made up some excuse.

But right now, my brain was total mush and I couldn’t think straight.

“Earlier when you were drinking, you said you broke up with your boyfriend, right?”

“He cheated and you caught him kissing some other girl.”

I rubbed my temples.

Mr. Blackstone… you don’t need to remind me of all that depressing shit.”

So you’re single now?”

I nodded.

Single as they come. If you know any hot, successful guys, keep me in mind.”

I fumbled for the door handle.

“Gotta go. See you around.”

How much was drinks tonight? I’ll Venmo you…”

took a few steps but got pulled back.

Next thing I knew, he was kissing me.

My brain went completely blank. I pushed weakly at his shoulders, but not very hard.

Do I count as successful?”

Am I good-looking?”

Do I meet your standards?”

His face was so close. Part of me knew this was wrong, but I couldn’t help thinking he was pretty damn attractive.

The kiss was overwhelming. I couldn’t escape, so I just went with it.

After a moment of heated passion, he pulled back, breathing hard.

Alright, let me walk you upstairs.”

You’re something else…”

wiped off my smudged lipstick, silently noting how he just kissed and ran.

But I didn’t have the nerve to say the rest out loud.

He walked me to my door. Before leaving, he tilted my chin up and whispered in my ear: “We’ll take this slow.”

Next morning, I thought it had all been a dream.

But the breakfast that showed up right on time, with his note on the delivery app saying “Have some soup, it’s good for your stomach,” made me realize last night was very real.

“Holy shit, Director Blackstone’s making a move on you?”

couldn’t nod or shake my head, just stayed quiet.

Open your damn eyes! This guy’s a million times better than Kaden!”

Harper was more excited than I was.
