Chapter 8
“No!” Rain shook her head frantically. “This is your biological son! How can you say that!”
“Precisely because he’s my son, I can’t watch him live in pain.” Marcus forced justifications for his cruelty. “Rather than let him suffer after birth, it’s better to just…”
“Shut up!” Rain screamed. “You’re an animal! You don’t deserve to be a father!”
She went crazy trying to hit Marcus, but I held her back.
“Calm down!” I gripped her shoulders.
“Calm down?” Rain was crying hysterically. “He wants to kill his own child-how can I be calm?”
Seeing her despair, a flicker of sympathy stirred in my heart.
But quickly, I remembered all her arrogant words from before, and the sympathy vanished instantly.
This was the price she had to pay for seducing a married man.
“Rain, I can help you,” I suddenly said.
Both of them looked at me in surprise.
“You’re willing to help me?” Rain couldn’t believe it.
“I can pay for the baby’s treatment,” I said flatly. “But there are conditions.”
“What conditions?” she asked urgently.
“First, you leave this city and never come back. Second, you promise to never tell the child who his father is.”
Rain hesitated, looking between me and Marcus.
Marcus was obviously relieved-this solution was perfect for him.
He could get rid of the problem without taking any responsibility.
“I need to think about it,” Rain said.
“Think about what?” Marcus said impatiently. “This is already the best outcome! What more do you want?”
His callousness completely broke Rain’s heart.
Looking at this man who had once sworn eternal love, the love in her eyes turned completely to hatred.
“Tine, I agree,” she said through gritted teeth. “But Marcus, I want you to remember-what you owe me and this child, someday you’ll pay back!”
