When Your Cheating Husband's Dream Become Your Divorce Evidence novel Chapter 94

Chapter 1

At our bachelor party, I watched my fiancé casually drink from his junior colleague’s glass like it was the most natural thing in the world.

That’s when I knewhe’d fallen for her.

I sat there watching them chat away, from work projects to life dreams, their conversation flowing like old lovers.

I didn’t make a scene. I just confronted him that night.

Pick one,I said. Call off the engagement, or I’ll make sure her academic career goes up in smoke.

Without a word, he stormed out, not returning until early the next morning with a despondent expression.

The wedding’s still on.

But on our wedding day, when he saw me in my gown, something shifted in his expression.

The bride I wanted to marry isn’t you. I screwed up. I never should’ve let her go

After dropping that line, he bolted from the scene.

I just watched the chaos among the guests with a calm smile.

Ten minutes later, he and his junior colleague were kissing passionately at the airport.

Meanwhile, his family’s corporate stock plummeted ten points.

Since he chose betrayal, he shouldn’t be surprised when I drag him straight to hell.

My phone screen was stuck on Ryder Montgomery’s Instagram post.

The caption was just one line:

[This time, I’m choosing love.]

In the photo, he was wearing the suit I’d personally picked out, kissing Ivy Hartley at the airport.

Our mutual friends were having a field day in the comments:

[Ryder’s got some balls. Where’s Zara supposed to show her face now?]

[Ditching your bride at the altar, then making out with your side piece at the airport? Girl really bet on the wrong horse.]

[Has Ryder lost his damn mind? Throwing both families under the bus for some chick?]

1 pulled my eyes away from the screen and stared at the wedding rings sitting on my desk.

Our initials were still engraved inside the bands.

Ryder had designed these rings himself. He’d added magnets to the outer bands so that whenever the two rings got close,

they’d snap together.

He’d told me it was because of his severe OCDhe might not always be able to be physically close to me, but the rings were proof of his love.

He also promised he’d work on overcoming this issues.

I hadn’t pushed him. I’d been willing to respect his boundaries.

But then, at the bachelor party, I watched him grab Ivy’s glass and take a sip without a second thought.

When she noticed me staring at the glass in his hand, Ivy turned to me with this innocent smile.

Zara, don’t read into it. Sometimes we’re in meetings for hours, and we all just share drinks. It’s no big dealyou’re not bothered by that, are you?

Before I could answer, a friend of Ivy jumped in, linking arms with me.

Come on, something that small? Zara wouldn’t sweat the small stuff. You’re really underestimating her here.

This way, they put me in an impossible positionif I minded, it would mean I didn’t trust Ryder.

But how could I not mind?

That night, when I brought it up with Ryder, he looked all embarrassed and apologized, promising he’d be more careful next time.

Now I realize those were just empty words. He wanted the my family’s backing and his precious little side piece.

What a joke.

Suddenly, my assistant knocked and came in. Ms. Shaw, Mr. Montgomery Senior is on line one. Should I put him through?

I looked down at the blinking name on the phone. How much now?

Seven percent. Total market value down about forty million.

Not enough. That pocket change didn’t even come close to covering the humiliation he’d put me through.

Okay.My voice was completely flat. Tell Mr. Montgomery Senior that if he can’t control his son, someone else will.

Should I have PR handle the online backlash?

No need.

Since he chose love, let’s give everyone a frontrow seat to see if his choice was worth it.

I stared intently at the photo on the screenat Ryder’s expression of being utterly lost in lovemy thoughts churning endlessly.

The phone on my desk remained dead silent.

My assistant must have communicated with Ryder’s father; he hadn’t contacted me since.

But I hadn’t expected the old man to come down this hard.

Soon enough, my phone started buzzing. This time it was Ryder.

I didn’t pick up. Just let it ring and ring until it finally went quiet.

A few seconds later, the screen lit up with a text:

[Zara, you’re really shameless. Just because I chose Ivy, you’re gonna destroy me? Are you really this jealous and vindictive?]
