You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 330

Brandon walked in, his lips pressed tight, like he was fighting some battle inside himself. The look he gave Patricia was impossible to read, but you could tell his mind was spinning.

He had to admit—Patricia was sharp. Too sharp, maybe. Her methods could be extreme. Someone like her could be your best ally, but if she turned on you? She’d be dangerous. With a brain like that, she could end up doing anything.

Judy’s wide, terrified eyes landed on River. She recognized him instantly, even in plain clothes and without a word—she’d seen that face at the police station before.

River’s gaze dropped to her, his voice cold. “You need to come with us.”

Judy started shaking her head, words tumbling out. “No, no, I didn’t choose any of this! It was all her—” She jabbed a finger at Grandma. “She threatened me, you heard her just now! She used my son against me!”

“I’m innocent. I’ve been with the Newton family for years, always worked hard, did everything for them. They claim I’m family, but behind my back, they set me up, tried to drag me down. Patricia was right—she acts sweet but has a heart of stone. She deserves whatever she gets.”

Judy crawled toward River, grabbing for his leg. “Please, officer, help me! I’m just a maid—what kind of trouble could I cause? If I was smart enough to pull this off, do you think I’d be working as a servant?”

Brandon stepped aside, dodging her hands. “Judy, you’ll have to explain that at the station.”

Judy’s strength gave out. She slumped to the floor.

She glanced back at Grandma, who sat at the edge of the bed, calm and collected, watching like she’d known all along this day would come.

Fury boiling over, Judy lunged at her. “You old witch! I hope you get what’s coming to you!”

Grandma’s voice shook. “The Newton family always treated you well.”

“Oh, sure. That’s easy for you to say. You’ve always looked down on us—acting all polite on the outside, but cold and heartless underneath. To you, we’re just insects.”
