You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 343

Patricia went quiet, and Oliver noticed right away. He tried to break the silence with some small talk.

“Got any plans for the holidays?”

Patricia figured he was just making conversation. She didn’t think much of it and answered casually, “I’m going to Springfield to spend time with my grandma.”

Oliver’s hand froze, spoon halfway to his mouth. He stared at Patricia for a long moment, not saying a word.

Patricia felt a little uneasy under his gaze. “What’s up?”

“Nothing,” Oliver said, finally looking away.

But he was definitely annoyed. The mention of Springfield bothered him. Patricia had already made her plans. So what about him? The more he thought about it, the more irritated he got.

“After dinner, let Jackson drive you home so you can rest. I’ve got meetings all afternoon,” he said, his tone a little stiff.

Patricia didn’t think anything of it. It was year-end, everyone was busy at work—she totally understood.

She’d just gotten home and changed into comfy clothes, ready for a nap, when her phone buzzed with messages from Sara.

HELP!!! Did you make my Uncle Oliver mad???

I swear, this job is going to kill me.

How can someone be both old and THIS much of a control freak?

Aunt Patricia!!!! Save me!!! I’m begging you!!!

Patricia replied, I don’t think so?

Sara didn’t text back. Instead, she sent a 20-second voice message.
