You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 342

Honestly, you had to feel a little sorry for Theo. The guy just couldn’t catch a break. Sometimes Patricia wondered if he’d ever tried to get his fortune told or paid someone to chase the bad luck away.

He thought he was being clever, picking a girlfriend from the tabloids to help him out with his grandma. Too bad she turned out to be a brand ambassador for Pacific Capital. Only Theo could try to solve one problem and end up neck-deep in another.

Hector, of course, was loving the drama. He looked at Oliver with a mischievous grin. “So, Patricia, what’s our move here?”

“Do whatever you want. I’m staying out of it,” Patricia replied, not missing a beat. She knew better than to get dragged into one of their power plays. No matter what she said, Oliver would read too much into it. She’d rather avoid the trap altogether.

Hector wasn’t about to let it go. “Come on, you can’t just tap out. At least give me a hint. What would you do if it were up to you?”

“Nope,” Patricia said, shutting it down fast. She glanced at Oliver. “I’ll wait for you outside.”

The second the door closed behind her, Hector dropped his act and shook his head. “Man, she’s a tough one. You two at home must be like Mr. and Mrs. Smith—always on guard, always plotting.”

Oliver didn’t even bother responding. He just shrugged on his coat and shot Hector a lazy glance. “You really need a hobby.”

Then to his assistant, “Tell the team to cancel her endorsement.”

Hector raised his brows. “But Patricia said to leave it alone.”

Oliver didn’t even slow down. “You get paid to do your job. Or do you need me to remind you who signs your checks?”

As Oliver walked out, Hector let out a low whistle. He wasn’t surprised, not even a little. There was no way Oliver was just going to let Patricia’s word be the last one. If it was someone outside his circle, maybe he’d let it slide. But someone under his own roof? If he ignored it, people would think he’d lost his edge.

He always acted like nothing fazed him, but Hector knew the truth—if Oliver could, he’d probably take Theo apart piece by piece. The guy was just good at hiding it.
