You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 366

Nina couldn’t shake off what Jackson had said the other day. “What does it even mean to spoil someone? There’s no example of that at home. Have you ever tried Googling it? Look up ‘NPD’—narcissistic personality disorder—and you’ll see exactly how Joseph’s been treating you all these years.”

A chill ran down Nina’s spine.

Trying to keep things light, she said, “So, is my big brother going out with Theo again tonight? I saw a wannabe celebrity post something the other day—Theo and Amy were making out like nobody was watching, and there you were, camera in hand, recording every second.”

Zoey’s eyes shot straight to Joseph, her face full of disapproval.

Even Ben chimed in, his voice sharp. “Is this true? Your own sister gets treated like that and you don’t stand up for her? Instead, you’re out partying with them? Makes our whole family look bad.”

Joseph looked uncomfortable. “Dad, it just happened, okay? We ran into each other. It’s the same crowd—I couldn’t just ignore them.”

Nina refused to let it go. She slid over to Ben, pouting. “You’re lying, Joseph. That’s not what happened.”

She turned to Ben, putting on her sweetest face. “Dad, don’t listen to him. Theo and Amy were trending for days, and guess who else was there? My dear brother.”

She looked back at Joseph, lips trembling with mock hurt. “Brother, do you not love me anymore?”

She sounded so sweet and pitiful, like she was really fighting for his affection.

Joseph saw both Ben and Zoey’s faces darken and realized Nina had totally set him up.

But when he looked closer, Nina still looked as innocent as ever.

The weird tension stuck around until dinner ended.

Outside the restaurant, Zoey and Ben were busy seeing off the relatives. Joseph reached out to ruffle Nina’s hair.

She dodged him without even looking.

Joseph grinned. “Are you actually mad at me?”

Nina’s voice was syrupy sweet. “Me? Mad at you? Never. You’re the big-shot photographer.”
