Morning sunlight spilled across the room.
The second the news about Pacific Capital’s chairman hit the internet, Riverdale collectively lost its mind. For the first time ever, the Financial Times sold out and had to rush out a reprint. In an era where most people barely glance at newspapers, today was a wild exception.
Young, ridiculously handsome, confident, and rich—a combination like that in one guy? He instantly became the dream crush of every girl in town.
“He’s so hot, I can’t deal!”
“He’s got money and looks. Honestly, I’d sell my soul for just one night with him—even if it meant waking up broke the next day!”
“Which direction do I need to bow to land a night with him? Someone, please, I’m desperate!”
Patricia was sprawled in bed, scrolling through the news link Sara had sent her. The video already had more than 160,000 comments. She went straight to the top three, and by the time she hit the second, she burst out laughing.
Right then, Oliver came upstairs after his workout. He noticed her grinning at her phone and raised an eyebrow.
“What’s so funny?”
Patricia didn’t look up. “Just checking out a seriously attractive guy.”
Normally, Oliver would just grab some clothes from the closet and head for the shower. He hated the idea of getting sweat anywhere near Patricia—his neat freak tendencies were legendary. But today, her answer made him stop short. He turned toward her, interest piqued.
His voice was calm, but there was a dangerous edge to it. “How attractive? Let me see for myself.”
“Nope,” Patricia shot back, hugging her phone to her chest.
Oliver’s jaw tightened. The thought of his wife swooning over another man’s picture did not sit well with him.
“So handsome you have to keep him to yourself?”
Patricia nodded, grinning. “Yep! Honestly, I’d totally sleep with him.”
Oliver’s face darkened, and for a second it looked like he might snap. Instead, he took a breath and tried to play it cool. “Well, now I really need to see. Gotta check out my competition. Maybe I need a plastic surgeon or something.”
Plastic surgery?
