You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 439

Patricia bent over and gave her shoulder a quick pat.

“Starting something is easy, but keeping it going? That’s the real challenge. You haven’t learned a thing from your ancestors, have you?”

Did she look like some kind of fool? No way she’d ever team up with someone like Ruby—just all talk and no real skills, jumping into things on a whim.

“Ms. Miller, you really should find some time to pick up the basics of running a company. It’s not like the old days when opportunities were everywhere.”

Once Patricia left, Nina didn’t see any reason to stick around. She waved over a nurse and asked to be taken for her check-up.

When she got back, she casually asked the nurse who was staying in the room next door.

The nurse said, “That room’s empty.”

If Patricia was worried Nina would bother Colton, there’s no way she’d let him stay in that room.

After leaving the hospital, Patricia had nothing urgent to do.

Sara pulled her along to the office, saying they could pick Oliver up from work.

But as soon as they got upstairs, they heard he had visitors.

And those guests had just arrived, so they were in for a wait.

“Aunt Patricia, want to hang out in my office?” Sara asked.

“Sure,” Patricia agreed, following her downstairs.

When they walked in, Patricia couldn’t help but stare at the mountain of paperwork covering the desk. It looked overwhelming.

Sara gave a nervous grin. “Lincoln dumped all these files on us to review.”

“Already finished any of them?”

Sara pointed to one side of the desk. “That pile’s done. The rest is still waiting.”

“Aunt Patricia, what do you want to drink?”

“Just water’s fine.”

Patricia grabbed a book from the desk and sat across from Sara. One of them read files, the other a novel, and they waited together.

They ended up waiting until it was almost quitting time.

Patricia stood up and stretched, rubbing her lower back. “Maybe we should just head home?”

Oliver burst through the door, his steps quick. He heard her words and hurried over, gently massaging her back. “Did I keep you waiting too long?”
