You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 505

“He will. When they took over Martin Group, they pulled every string they could, kept everything under wraps, just so your dad wouldn’t have a shot at rescuing me. If your dad actually comes back, the first person he goes after will be him.”

Patricia smirked. “But now? He’s got enemies everywhere. He’s surrounded. If he gets out of this mess unscathed, it’ll be a miracle.”

“Enemies? I don’t see it. He looks like he’s living just fine,” Chelsea said, nodding toward the TV.

A sleek Martin Group smart home commercial was playing.

Patricia watched the screen for a moment, then picked up her glass and took a slow sip of water.

“He’s got a mistress. She’s pregnant. It’s a boy—Tina already knows.”

“Shit!” Chelsea shot up from the couch, springing over to kneel next to Patricia, clutching her arm. “Spill. I want every single detail.”

Maggie came out of the kitchen with a fruit platter, just in time to catch Patricia’s last words.

Before Maggie could even react, Chelsea waved her over. “Come here, you have to hear this.”

Patricia ran through Emerson’s affair, leaving out her own involvement, making it sound like just another piece of juicy gossip.

Maggie listened, still stunned. “How could something like that happen? What are the chances?”

“Destiny?” Patricia offered, shrugging.

“Oh, please. What kind of destiny is that?”

Chelsea looked between Patricia and Maggie, rolling her eyes. “Does it matter? Maybe they’re just not done with each other. Some people have unfinished business.”

“Either way, the more chaos in their family, the happier I am,” Patricia said with a laugh.

“Mom, whose side are you on?” Chelsea teased.

Maggie gave her a look. “I’m your mother. Whose side do you think?”

She pushed the fruit platter into Patricia’s hands. “Eat something. I’m heading out tonight with your uncle to see some old friends. You two okay here on your own?”
