You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 514

Amy stood across from Ruby in the office, a mask hiding half her face. Her posture was casual, but her long hair was styled to perfection, not a strand out of place.

Ruby sat back in her chair, meeting Amy’s gaze. The second their eyes met, Ruby thought, So this is the woman everyone says Theo’s seeing?

Knowing how the Newton family works, it’s strange Amy left empty-handed. Something’s off.

“So, Amy, why’d you switch jobs in the first place?” Ruby asked.

Amy just shrugged. “People want to move up. That’s life, right?”

Ruby nodded, a friendly smile on her lips. She shifted her chair, getting comfortable. “I’m just curious. From what I know about Theo, he’s not the type to screw over his business partners. You two worked together and you didn’t get anything out of it?”

Anyone in Riverdale could see it: Theo was using Amy as a cover. Only Amy’s fans still believed she was about to marry into money. Like it was really that easy.

Let’s be real—someone like Amy, or even Ruby herself, would have to jump through a million hoops just to get a seat at the table. She was just an actress. Fairy tales didn’t happen in film studios.

Amy actually found Ruby’s words a little funny.

How well did she really know Theo, anyway?

Amy’s tone was cool. “If that’s how you see it, Ms. Martin, maybe you don’t know Theo as well as you think.”

It was supposed to be a win-win. Instead, the Newton family ditched Riverdale and moved their business overseas. Patricia ran them off, and Amy was left with nothing.

And Theo’s character? Please.

A man who let his mom and grandma set fire to his ex-wife’s house—what kind of person does that? What kind of “good guy” is that supposed to be?
