A Love to Die For (Nathaly) novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10

With this thought, he furrowed his brows and said in a low voice, “Terminate all contracts. From now on, no media outlet is allowed to report anything about me and Nicole.”

The assistant hurried to disperse the media present.

Elijah checked the time, wanting to make it back to the boat by midnight to watch the fireworks with Nathaly.

Fortunately, the process of rescuing Nicole went very smoothly-so smoothly, in fact, that it felt almost abnormal.

When they found her, the kidnappers had already left. Nicole was lying on the floor of a small cabin deep in the for- est, her hands and feet bound, her body covered in blood.

After being rescued, Nicole threw herself into Elijah’s arms, sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.

“Eli… I thought I would never see you again… I was so scared…”

In the past, seeing her cry would always make Elijah feel tender and protective, but now he felt none of that.

It was already 10:50 at night. There was almost no time left.

He frowned and pushed Nicole away from his embrace.

“I’ll have someone take you to the hospital. The helicopter is ready.”

But Nicole clung to him tightly, refusing to let go.

“No! Eli, I’m too scared… I want you to stay with me…”

Seeing Elijah’s face grow increasingly dark and impatient, she bit her lip, squeezed out more tears, and pretended to be even more frightened.

“…Before I passed out, I accidentally pulled off the kidnapper’s mask. I think I still remember what he looks like.”

Elijah immediately became serious, holding her as he boarded the helicopter with the police.

But he had no idea that someone in the crowd had already taken his photo and posted it on the trending topics.

By the time he finished giving his statement and sent Nicole to the hospital, it was already 11:30 at night.

Elijah looked grim, so the assistant had no choice but to urge the yacht captain to speed up.

Fortunately, during this time, the bodyguard watching over Nathaly kept sending Elijah real-time updates.

Nathaly remained calm and peaceful throughout.

Staring at the gentle profile in his phone, her eyes lowered quietly over her book, Elijah’s gaze softened.

He suddenly missed her very much.

“Faster.”

Amid the roar of the engine, Elijah’s voice was low and commanding.

But just as they were less than a kilometer from the cruise ship, a thick fog suddenly rose over the sea for no apparent

reason.

In an instant, the fog blocked everyone’s view on the yacht, and even the navigation system inexplicably malfunc- tioned several times.

Luckily, a few minutes later, the fog finally cleared, revealing the side of the yacht less than twenty meters away.

The assistant quickly took out the walkie-talkie to contact the crew and have them lower the gangway.

At that moment, a slender figure appeared on the deck, catching Elijah’s eye-it was Nathaly.

The sea breeze lifted her black hair, revealing her calm eyes.

Elijah’s heart suddenly filled with panic.

“Nathy!”

But the strong wind carried away his desperate shout, and it never reached Nathaly’s ears.

He could only watch helplessly as Nathaly lifted her white dress and climbed barefoot onto the ship’s railing.

It felt as if his heart had been struck by a hammer.

A wild, absurd suspicion chilled him to the bone.

“Get someone to the deck! Pull her back! Hurry!!!”

Elijah was on the verge of losing his mind, his eyes fixed desperately on the swaying figure on the railing, his voice filled only with despair.

The next second, it seemed that Nathaly on the ship finally noticed him.

She looked at him from afar and gave him a brilliant smile.

Just like when they were deeply in love.

Bang-

Fireworks shot up, illuminating the deep blue night sky.

Nathaly gracefully fell, like a snowflake, shattering Elijah’s heart into pieces.

“No-”

His face turned deathly pale, and his bloodshot eyes were filled with nothing but despair.

Almost instinctively, he leapt into the sea, frantically swimming toward the spot where Nathaly had fallen.

The seawater was icy cold and the visibility beneath the surface was dim, but all Elijah could see was the sl ure sinking into the depths.

He swam madly toward Nathaly, who was already showing no signs of life.

But just as he was about to reach her, the ship’s massive propeller appeared without mercy, advancing an everything in its path.

A cloud of blood exploded before Elijah’s eyes.
