Lewana POV

We have reconvened the guardian council for the second time this month to make a plan. If we are going in blind to land where the shadows have taken up home, then we are going to need all of us to destroy the stronghold. We have also briefly filled in Agent Carter, but we are not giving him any details. He knows about the Gala only.

Conrad runs the meeting with the Royal family, listening to their part.

“We need to work together if this is going to work. We need the Faes on the outermost ring. You will be our last defence. Any wolves that get past the other barriers must be stopped by you with any means necessary. Bound in vines, held in sinkholes, anything. The next barrier will be the Psirens. According to the layout, there is a river that runs through the compound. You need to create a wall of water as our secondary defence. In the centre of the circle will be Lewana and the hunters. They will take out any wolf that has been corrupted while freeing the others. Phoenix’s will provide air support and feed back what they can see from above. Questions“.

King Forian of the Fae Kingdom is the first to speak up with a suspicious tone. “And where exactly will you be while we are fighting for your kind?“.

“I will be across town at a business Gala with the one who is possessed by Shadow. Nobody moves in until I have confirmation he is not in that territory“.

Prince Eli looks over the map, taking in the information. He seems to do better looking at things from a bird’s–eye view. “How will Luna Queen and the HUnters get into the zone. There seems to be only one way in. Scaling the walls will be too difficult to do unseen. And how are you going to keep that many wolves unharmed?“.

Prince Aalto joins the discussion with a slight shake in his voice. “I actually have an idea about that. Psiren songs are enhanced by the full moon just as werewolves‘ powers are. If I stay next to Lewana, I should be able to release a song to calm rather than put to sleep for that many as long as they remain in the area“.

That should work. I smile, pleased. “This should also help me break the orders as they will be calmer to start with and shouldn’t fight me as much“.

Conrad thinks for a moment. “Aalto. Do you think a few Psirens might be able to continue this if any get too aggressive? Just until we can put them in silver and detain?“.

Chapter 201

He looks at Conrad, confused. “Detain them where“.

Conrad and I look at each other. “That’s a variable we can’t account for. There is no solid plan on how to get everyone out. We don’t know if the wolves will be fit for travel. We can’t ask them to walk. It’s too many cars. That only leaves train or plane. Once they are free, we don’t know if they want to come back here. If they had been taken from another pack, they may wish to return home. They may choose to travel and find their own pack. We won’t know this until they are free“.

King Florian is livid at this. “How can you be so reckless as to not think about that side of your plan? You expect us to leave our soldiers there indefinitely until you sort them out“.

Conrad remains calm while he replies. “No. We have many plans, but don’t know what to use, as we don’t know what state the pack will be in. Let’s say 2000 are fully with it when they are released and want to return home to the North or Eastern packs. Then we can transfer the rest by train. If some are too sick to wait, we might have to fly them back here. We don’t know which until we see them“.

This seems to settle them, but you can still sense the tension in the air.

I look at everyone in the room with a stern expression. “This is the plan. This is the best shot we have at weakening the enemy quickly. To keep all of us safe. If you don’t want to stand by this plan, then we will go alone, but if we do, it will not just be to the detriment of the wolves“.

Florian takes a deep sigh and pinches the bridge of his nose. “You know we believe in you, moonflower. So we will stand by you now“.

King River speaks next. “Same for us, little Orca“.

Queen Ember also joins in. “We are etheral siblings so will stand by family and fight for what is needed“.

When Conrad and I leave the meeting, it’s dark. It feels like it has gone for mere minutes, but we must have been discussing everything for hours. We are both drained and unable to sleep at the end of the meeting. We both go to our room and silently get ready for the night.

I wrap my arms around him and snuggle in. I just breathe in his scent as if it is the last time I will smell it. “What is happening with our pack?“.

“Arthur is going to run the pack. Liam is going with you, and Murdock with me. Over the next five days, we will train and go over everything. We will prepare to leave the pack for a week and then reunite stronger after that. Just promise that all three of you will come back“.

Chapter 201

I smile at him. “You know I always promise to come back to you. This time will be no different. You need to stay safe too. I need you to come back for us“.

We share a passionate kiss and pull each other close. As our hands roam each other’s bodies and remember every muscle, I push everything I’m feeling down the mate bond so he can feel how much I love and trust him. How much I believe in him and how much I appreciate him having the same

trust in me.

It feels like hours before we fall asleep in each other’s arms with Conrad’s hand resting on my growing bump. As I drift off to sleep, I start to dream of the life we can have after this battle.

The final battle. At least for my pups, I hope it is.
