Chapter 210
Conner POV
It’s the third dark night we have been running for our lives. We have stolen cars, been in gun fights, hidden out in abandoned warehouses, and been in a knife fight. I know we are getting closer to home, but I have no idea how far off we are. We have no phone and no way to
contact anyone.
We are currently being chased by five wolves from a local pack. Conrad is completely unconscious at this point and a dead weight to carry. Murdock and I have discussed splitting up so that one can get reinforcements, but with the rate we keep getting attacked, it would leave the other and Conrad vulnerable.
The wolves know we are tired and know Conrad is vulnerable, so they mock us from the dark. Hunting and toying with their prey before the kill.
“Who would have thought a hunter would be this easy to kill?“.
“And with a human just to make it easier for us“.
*The true Alpha King will be pleased when we kill Conrad“.
I have no idea what pack they are from, but we just need to stay alive. We have to keep moving and stay alive.
Murdock is trying to find where they are in the dark and clear a way for us to move forward while I carry Conrad. I can barely pick my feet up, trip over a tree root, and fall to the ground out of breath.
The wolves continue to mock us with laughter that echoes in the forest.
“Come on. It’s no fun if you don’t run“.
Murdock can see I’m spent, and decides it will be better if we stand and fight. We both draw our weapons. We have no bullets left. Just blades and wait for the attack.
I’m distracted when I hear Conrad whisper. It’s the first sound he has made in hours. “Moonlight“.
He doesn’t move. He is barely breathing. He is pale, and his heart rate is slowing. He’s asking for her.
I talk back to him. “Hold on, buddy. We’ll get you home. We’ll get you to Moonlight“.
One of the wolves sneers from the dark, “I wouldn’t count on that“.
He jumps out from behind a bush after having shifted into his wolf form and lands right on top of me. I’m pushing with all my might to keep his snapping teeth away from my face as I try to kick him off. I manage to find a rock and smash him in the side of the rock. Twice.
He rolls off and shakes his head, and I can see Murdock battling one. One tries to sneak behind him while his back is turned. I throw my blade and hit him in the leg, making him whimper, which alerts Murdock. But now I have no weapon.
Two start to circle me, but I know there are five. I am standing over Conrad’s unconscious form, realizing that if I can at least take one or two out before I die, Murdock might have a chance with the others. I just have to hope Stella knows why I had to leave her like her mother.

Before he can reach me he is slammed to the ground by a Mur of white ligh
Serena. But not in wall form. As a lycan.
I had no idea she had the power to do this, but it doesn’t surprise me that the can. As soon as the slams the wolf into the ground, she clamps her teeth down on the back of his neck, ripping a chunk of his spine out.
The lifeless form drops to the ground, and the other wolves freeze. This doesn’t stop her, though.
She spins and launches at the next one, using her limbs to knock him back as she rips out his throat.
Her normally stunning, glowing white coat is now covered in red as she snarls at the next one. I thought Lewana was a strong fighter, but seeing Serena fully embrace her primal power is something else.
I stand guard over Conrad, and Murdock moves over towards me. We both know this isn’t over, but we can now hear the howls in the distance. The pack warriors are coming. Judging by how loud it is, there are a lot of them.
Serena uses her claws to shred one of them apart as another tries to attack her from above. She grabs him by the neck and throws him into a tree, and you can hear a crunch of a bone breaking.
The uninjured one knows they are done for and starts to retreat, while the other one follows. Serena kills the one under her quickly and looks up at where they ran. The other warriors have started to arrive, and she barks orders at them.
