It has been two days since we shared a night in my room, yet I could still smell her scent everywhere I went. Her milky scent. Everything about her was milky. So soft and sweet.
Luna–I found out her name from the records that Tyson had gathered. It seemed she was sold unwillingly because the name and signature on the waiver were different from her name.
However, they had the same last name, so I wondered if she was like me and had a complicated family life. I shook my head. It wasn’t like I was concerned with her anymore. She was back where she belongs, and I would go back to my usual routine.
Still, I couldn’t shake off her scent.
My wolf was growling for her, restless under my skin. It nicked at the edges of my control. demanding I give in, demanding I take what was calling to us. An advantage of being a Lycan was having heightened senses and instincts even in human form. But it was also a curse- because when desire struck, it consumed my entire being.
Right now, I was being devoured by thoughts of her.
Every step I took inside the house, her scent followed me. The couch. The hallway. Even the damn kitchen counter where she had stood once, nervously twisting her hands as she tried to thank me for “saving” her. Saving her. She had no idea how ironic that word was. I wasn’t a savior.
I ran a hand through my hair, breathing out sharply. “Get her out of your mind,” I muttered under my breath. My voice sounded strained, even to myself.
I gritted my teeth, pacing toward the shower, hoping a cold rinse would clear my head. But the moment the towel brushed against me, I froze. There was already a tent forming beneath the fabric.
“Fuck.”
My wolf stirred again, growling with frustration. He didn’t understand boundaries. He didn’t care about the curse, or the promise I’d made to myself years ago–that I would never, ever let myself feel this kind of need.
I tightened the towel around my waist and stared at my reflection.
“Enough,” I said again.

Chapter 309 I Miss Her
It was a good thing Rowan’s bachelor party was tonight. If you could even call it that.

Rowan had invited the True Alphas and his Beta, Francis. That was it. However, I was thankful I could leave this sweet space for a moment.
I didn’t think we’d be close, honestly. I was older than them by nearly a decade–thirty–five to their mid–twenties–but they were good men.
They were much better than I’d ever been at their age.
I buttoned my jeans, slipped into a plain white shirt, and tried not to think about how empty the house felt once I was fully dressed.
I exhaled heavily and grabbed my keys. “You’re losing it, Abel.”
I truly needed the distraction. Damon’s club was being shut down, and the family hadn’t summoned me yet, which meant I had this brief window of peace. A rare one. I intended to take it.
I left orders with Tyson to handle anything that came up while I was gone.
Stepping outside, I went to my car and got ready to drive to the South. However, as I entered my car, the small space was once again filled with her scent.
“Fuck,” I cursed. This was impossible.
She wasn’t even here.

I arrived at Rowan’s house a little past eight. The drive had been quiet, and though I tried to drown my thoughts in the scenery, I still caught traces of her scent clinging to my clothes. It was maddening.
Apparently, Tessa’s bachelorette party was happening in Ylarc at the same time. Sponsored by her Alpha, of course. The contrast made me grin.
When I entered, Francis was the first to notice me. He looked up from the couch, pizza slice in one hand, soda can in the other. “Why aren’t you in your pajamas?”
“I thought it was going to be casual.”
“It is casual,” Francis said with a smirk. “But the girls bought us matching pajamas. They said it was for the photos later.”

I stared at him. “Photos?”

Cade, sitting on the floor beside the coffee table, tossed me a folded set of red and green pajamas. “You heard the man. The Lunas‘ orders.”
My heart skipped when I heard the word “Luna.” It wasn’t pertaining to her, but fuck, she was truly everywhere I went.
I pursed my lips, holding the fabric like it was radioactive. “I’m thirty–five.”
Rowan shrugged from his recliner, not even looking up from his phone. “Age doesn’t save you here, brother.”
There was laughter around the room as I reluctantly changed into the ridiculous pajamas. It had red and green stripes. Great. I looked like a walking Christmas ornament.
Now here we were–five grown men, leaders of our own factions, feared across Fenra and
pasta from beyond–sitting around in ridiculous pajamas, eating takeout pizza, chicken, and paper boxes. Yet, somehow, it was one of the rare nights that felt peaceful.
I leaned back, resting my elbows on my knees. “Where are they again?”
“In
my beach house in Ylarc,” Cade answered, licking sauce off his fingers. “They said something about karaoke, fireworks, and… oh, a clown.”
I frowned. “A clown?”
Elias groaned. “Don’t even ask.”
“You didn’t hire anyone?” I asked Rowan.
“Nope.” Rowan grinned. “Tessa asked me to have my party at a hotel; however, for some reason, I knew it wouldn’t be as fun when I’m not with her. I like seeing her react. So, I decided to just have it here.”
“Same,” Cade said, smiling faintly.
“Same,” Francis chimed in, nodding solemnly.
Elias threw a pillow at them. “I swear to the Moon, if you all start being poetic about your mates, I’ll rip my ears off.” He pointed accusingly at Rowan. “Your child’s vision alone is already keeping me up at night. Spare the details.”
Laughter filled the room again.
