Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 253

Willow had just entered her father’s address into the GPS. The drive would take about ninety minutes—perfect for a nap.

She shifted in her seat, found a comfortable position, and closed her eyes, hoping to drift off. The last thing she expected was for Waller—the most taciturn man she knew—to suddenly start a conversation.

“Are you already married?” he asked out of nowhere.

Her eyes snapped open. Any trace of drowsiness vanished in an instant.

“Who told you that?” she shot back, forcing herself to stay calm. She took a steadying breath, then slowly turned her head to look at him.

Waller’s hands were steady on the wheel, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. His profile was all sharp lines and quiet strength—handsome, but never soft. As far as she could remember, she had never seen him smile.

She waited for him to answer.

He glanced at her briefly, then looked away, his voice low and even. “My father.”

“Your father?” Willow raised an eyebrow.

He was lying, she was sure of it.

But Waller didn’t so much as blink. “You know who he is.”

“I do,” Willow replied quietly.

Of course she did. Waller’s father, Leo Young, was a high-ranking advisor in the military, with enough authority to get any information he wanted. If Director Young was curious about her marital status, a single word would be all it took for someone to deliver a detailed report to his desk.

Which only made her more certain—Waller was not getting his information from his father.

So who had told him?

It could have been Ryan. As a detective, he had ways of finding things out. But when Ryan had questioned her earlier, it was clear he didn’t really know the details about Beasley and her. He must have heard Beasley’s name from Connor Mitchell at the station and looked into him out of curiosity.

“Is he your husband?” Waller’s questions were always blunt, but Willow understood his meaning.

She wasn’t lying. Beasley had nothing to do with her anymore. If anything, the only tie left between them was mutual enmity.

Waller seemed taken aback again.

Not him?

Then why had Willow reacted the way she did when they met on the mountain? Was he just some obsessed admirer?

Waller kept his eyes on the road, but his mind was racing, turning over the man’s name.

Beasley… his last name was Windsor… could it be…?

Waller thought of Windsor & Co. He didn’t usually pay attention to business news, but a company that big was hard to ignore.

“Does he have something to do with Windsor & Co.?” he finally asked. Sometimes, it was just easier to ask Willow directly.
