Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 59

Rosamund smiled as she explained, "My parents headed to the venue early to see if they could help with anything, and Cordelia ran off at dawn to get her hair done. She'll probably just go straight to the event when it's time, so don't worry about her."

Evelyn felt relieved she'd come here first; otherwise, Rosa would have been left to head out to the venue all by herself.

Then she remembered one of the reasons she'd come in the first place. Batting her lashes, she put on her most charming, coaxing voice. "Rosa, do you know who's playing the male lead opposite you?"

"I tried to pry it out of my brother and York, but neither of them would spill a word. It's infuriating." Evelyn gave a dramatic huff, frowning. "I refuse to be like those fans camping outside your villa, waiting until the announcement to find out."

"Rosa, you adore me—surely you'll give me a little hint, right?"

She looked at Rosamund with hopeful eyes, practically pleading.

Rosamund, of course, already knew who the male lead was; York hadn't kept it from her. With an exasperated sigh, she reached out and pinched Evelyn's cheek. "You're impossible, you know that?"

"Please, my wonderful big sis!" Evelyn clasped Rosamund's hand, turning on her best puppy eyes.

"Alright, alright, I'll tell you," Rosamund relented, but her smile turned secretive. "Actually, the guy they picked for the part has quite the connection to you."

"To me?" Evelyn's curiosity sharpened. "Who is it?"

Major, who had been quietly blending in with the furniture, perked up his ears.

Rosamund teased, "Do you remember who got top marks in your class for acting?"

Top of the class? Evelyn's eyes widened. "Emmett? He's the male lead?!"

She remembered Emmett all too well. She and Emmett had been at odds since their very first semester. He'd even tried to sneak a peek at her notes once—she'd caught him red-handed, and he'd refused to admit it. In a fit of rage, she'd burned everything he'd touched, right in front of him.

Evelyn didn't want to get into her history with Emmett—not here, not now. All she knew was, she'd find a way to get her brother to drop Emmett from the cast. There was no way she was acting opposite him.

Major, listening nearby, suddenly recalled Evelyn venting to him about a certain classmate—a copycat, insecure yet arrogant, always putting on airs, and not above a little petty theft.

He began to wonder: Was that troublesome classmate actually one of real estate tycoon Shawn Simmons's grandsons?

Seeing the stormy look on Evelyn's face, Major figured he must be right.

But no one—least of all Evelyn—could have predicted that the person who would ultimately help her get rid of Emmett from the cast would be Willow.

Not even Rosamund, who in her wildest dreams never imagined things would turn out the way they did.
