Chapter 401 A Sudden Halt

Michael’s POV

:

to Pariz

Early in the morning, Malach knocked on my door, holding the paperwork that should have been handled by my secretary. He handed it over casually.

I froze for a moment, then chuckled. For something this small, how could we trouble the Crimson Moon Pack’s beta to run it over personally?

Everyone knows Malach is Kirby’s righthand man. His position in the Crimson Moon Pack is so high that even speaking to him is rare.

For him to deliver documents himselfI honestly felt flattered.

Malach gave a polite smile, his tone steady. Michael, it was nothing. Kirby also asked me to tell youthe show will be put on hold for now.

My smile stiffened, eyes wide as my mind buzzed with a loud hum.

On hold? What the hell?!

Seeing my confusion, he went on slowly. The only ones left now are Miss Kelly and Miss Cynthia. As for Sandra and Chloethey’ve already dropped out.”

Dropped out?! My mind went blank, nearly unable to process it.

The very two who had gone to see Kirby last night.

I swallowed hard, trying to make sense of it.

Last night was justknocking on a door, wasn’t it?

Was it really that serious? A warning should’ve been enoughwhy force them out?

Unease twisted in my gut, and I asked cautiously, Why’d they quit? So suddenly

Malach’s gaze darkened as he stared straight at me, his sharp eyes making me shiver.

A chill ran down my back, guilt gnawing at me.

His lips curved into a knowing smile, and he drawled, Michael, you should already know why they left….

My heart skipped. He clearly knew I was the one who gave Sandra and Chloe Kirby’s room number.

Even though he didn’t seem intent on holding me accountable, fear still prickled at me.

What exactly happened last night?!

A wave of dread climbed from my feet upward, my thoughts a tangled mess. It couldn’t have been that simple.

Leslie’s POV

Lazy sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtains, spilling across my face, warm yet piercing.

My head was still heavy from a hangover, stuffed with cotton, too heavy to move.

Rubbing my temples, I forced my eyes open, adjusting to the swaying brightness.

Asphodel’s voice hummed in my mind, lazy but sharp. Finally awake? Do almost got marked by one of those Crimson Moon Pack mutts last night?

The words jolted me. My eyes flew open wide.

Marked?!

I drank too much last night, and thenwhat?

My memories were shrouded in fog, nothing to grab onto.

you realize you

Panic rising, I quickly checked my clothesstill the same ones from yesterday, only rumpled.

I touched my neckno mark.

Asphodel sighed. You passed out drunk, and that Crimson Moon Pack mutt barged into your room trying to mark you. I caught his stench and drove him out.

Relief washed over me. At least Kirby had held backbecause if he’d really tried anything, Asphodel alone wouldn’t have been able to stop him.

But wait. I was alone in the suite last night.

Why would Kirby even show up?

Damn it. He must have had a room card hidden away, scheming as usual.

This presidential suite was no longer safe. I had to move out today.

I tapped my stillaching head, dragged myself out of bed, and went to wash up. A hot shower

Half an hour later, I came out in a bathrobe just as my phone buzzed.
