Burn in the Alpha Princess’s Wrath

Chapter 402 The Poisoned Drink

Leslie’s POV

The hallway was on the same floor; Kirby’s room sat at the end.

It was eerily quiet today. Before I even knocked, the door opened.

Malach stood there.

Leslie, good morning.” He smiled, but his eyes were testing.

Morning, Malach.

His gaze swept over my face like a scan. Is Leslie feeling unwell?

I blinked in surprise. NoI’m fineI said aloud, No, I’m fine.

He breathed out in relief. Good. Kirby’s inside waiting for you.

I nodded, though my confusion deepened. Why would Malach ask about my health for no reason? I didn’t dwell on it and went straight in.

Why did Kirby throw Sandra and Chloe out? I need to find out!

I stepped inside and, before I could even see anyone, I called out, Kirby, you just kicked Sandra and Chloe outwhat did they do to deserve that?

In the next second I saw Kirby on the sofa, dressed in a black shirt and trousers, his handsome face so cold it made me pause.

But then I frowned sharply. Not far from him, on the floor, a woman lay in a wretched state, stained with blood.

Her hands were twisted into unnatural positions, trembling weakly and uselessly, as if they weren’t under her control.

The air in the room seemed to freeze. My face drained of color and a chill crawled up my spine.

Asphodel growled low. Whatwhat happened here?

When the woman saw me, her hoarse sobbing found strength. She crawled forward, her head hung low, her chest almost scraping the floorhumble and pleading as if begging for a single sliver of mercy.

Chapter 402 The Poisoned Drink

Leslie, I was wrong, I really was wrong. I deserve to dieplease spare meHer voice trembled like a leaf in the wind.

I stood rooted, my body stiffening. Only when I looked closely did I recognize Chloethe fragile woman from last night.

Her hands were purple and twisted in pain, yet she still cried out.

Whatwhat’s going on? My heart kicked faster and a furious shock rose in me.

I glanced at Kirby. He sat on the sofa wrapped in an intense cold, like a statue carved from ice.

He tapped the armrest with a finger; his voice was as cold as a blade. Chloe, tell Lesliewhat did you put in her drink?

The question hung in the air like it had frozen everything. My expression changed instantly and my gaze turned icy.

Put something in the drink?!

Asphodel looked up, surprised. He drugged her? There was something wrong with the drink? But why didn’t I sense anything odd last night?

I drew a long breath, swallowing back my rising rage. Through my teeth I asked, What do you mean? You put something in the drink I had last night?

Asphodel is my wolf and watches over my physical state at all timesif anything unusual happens, it alerts me immediately.

Yet whatever was in Chloe’s drink had even slipped past Asphodel.

Chloe was gasping and convulsing with sobs, too terrified to lift her head.

Kirby’s brow knitted; his face darkened further and his jaw tightened with menace. Speak. Do you need someone to teach you how to open your mouth?
