Chapter 408 The Accusation
Leslie’s POV
The sour, calculating scent of everyone weighing their options made me frown.
I shut my eyes for a second, then swept a calm glance across the room.
Asphodel muttered darkly. Kick them both out. Save yourself the trouble.

But I pushed her voice down. My own came out level but edged with Alpha authority. “Get dressed. All of you. Come out.”
My pine–sap pheromones poured out like a tide. The crying in the room faltered, shrinking back like flames smothered by a gust of wind.
Carl’s POV
Leslie’s voice cut through me like a winter blade, pine pheromones wrapped around ice, stabbing straight into my chest.
I trembled. My wolf whimpered in my head. Carl, don’t look her in the eye. That pressure will crush
us…
I kept my head down, unable to meet her silver wolf eyes. They always triggered an instinct to curl up, like a rabbit caught under an Alpha’s stare.
The room’s air was heavy as a funeral. Everyone’s breathing had gone quiet. Only Cynthia’s sobs still broke the silence, her berry–sweet scent mixed with salty tears stinging my nose.
Leslie flicked her eyes toward the door. Someone immediately shut it – the click sealing off
any escape.
The hallway noise vanished.
Kirby and Malach came in too. Kirby’s mint scent swept in like a cold wind, straight through to my bones. My wolf shuddered. He’s here… that smell always feels like he wants to tear me apart.
Kirby didn’t speak. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his gaze sliding over me like I was trash.
Malach stood behind him, his Beta loyalty scent steady as stone, though his eyes carried a faint trace of pity — or maybe contempt for a loser.

Cynthia pulled on a coat and walked out, not even trying to hide the red marks clawed across her collar by my wolf’s hands.

Her pheromones had changed. No longer sweet, they’d gone sharp, angry, and bitter.
Her voice was hoarse, trembling with outrage. “Leslie, Michael, since you’re both here, I’ll say it straight. Carl’s barely in the business and he already thinks he can grab actresses in broad daylight? He barged into my room, tore my clothes. I screamed no and he still put his hands on me. If this gets out, how am I supposed to stand in the Pack? How do I even find a mate?”
Her words made the blood rush to my head. My wolf howled in my mind. She’s lying! Twisting everything! We–w…
I couldn’t take it anymore. I burst out from the inner room. “You wanted it! You kept hinting at
don’t pretend! Everyone here saw how you flirted with me on set!”

Cynthia stared at me, then strode over and slapped me across the face. The crack echoed. My cheek burned.
My wolf whimpered. It hurts… Carl, she’s gone mad!
