Chapter 413 No One Takes Her
Kirby’s POV
:
In the Crimson Moon Pack’s conference room, I listened to my department beta’s report, but my mind was already in chaos, rattled by the nonstop buzzing of my phone.
Some fool was sending message after message, the alerts clanging one on top of another.
My mint pheromones seeped out, laced with suppressed fury.
The beta hesitated, glancing up at me cautiously, clearly assuming my anger was directed at him.
I couldn’t be bothered to explain. I just said, “Continue.”
My voice carried an icy edge. He stiffened, his report faltering into a softer, weaker tone.
I picked up my phone and opened the messages. The moment I saw the photo, rage surged uncontrollably, dropping the room’s temperature in an instant.
Adler and Leslie… together?
In the picture, they sat side by side at the conference table, close enough to sting my eyes.
My hand clenched into a fist, knuckles whitening, as though wolf claws were tearing at my chest. Fury stormed to my head.
“Bang!” The phone slammed onto the table. My gaze sliced across the beta, and his face drained of color. Sweat beaded on his forehead, his voice shaking. “Alpha, while you were away, some projects were temporarily put on hold. Some are too risky. Our department isn’t sure whether to keep investing…”
My voice cut like a blade. “So you’re telling me you’re useless, is that it?”
His face went sheet–white, sweat dripping in fat beads, his body trembling like a leaf.
The whole room froze, the air thick with the chill pouring from me.
I didn’t spare another glance. Standing, I strode out. “Have the full report on my desk by the end of the day–or replace it with your resignation.”
Dead silence followed me. I didn’t look back.
Malach hurried to scoop up my phone and rushed after me. “Alpha…”

I took the phone from him, my tone low and freezing. “You were supposed to watch Leslie, And you didn’t know she went to a meeting with Adler?”
Malach faltered. “Leslie’s meeting was in the neighboring city. You were invited too, but the content wasn’t significant, so I told you before and you had me decline. According to schedule, Adler wasn’t due back for another three days…”
I pushed open my office door, my voice void of warmth. “When does it end?”
“The meeting lasts only this afternoon. Leslie should be back tonight…”
I shot him a cold look, my displeasure sharp at that vague “should.”
His head dropped lower, and he forced out, “You can’t make it there in time now.”
After a long silence, I said icily, “Get out.”
“Yes.” He withdrew immediately.
