In the study, I pushed the door open, slipped the flash drive into the computer, and my face instantly darkened

every file was damning proof of Lucas’s crimes. He had forged documents using the Frost Pack alpha’s handwriting, signing off on critical matters. These were exactly the ironclad pieces Eric had been desperate for.

Kirby stood across from me, both hands resting on the desk, his gaze fixed on the family photo nearby – my father’s stern dignity, Thorbane’s goofy grin, my own stubborn eyes. The warmth

of it all.

His eyes dimmed, and a faint bitterness leaked through his pheromone.

I fixed my stare on him. “How do you have these?”

He curved his lips, composure slipping back into place. “If you need something, you can come to me directly. I’ll help you without hesitation. But staging scandals… that only stirs

misunderstandings.”

Asphodel snorted. So he dug into everything, just to flaunt it, Leslie. He’s fishing for credit.

I stayed calm, closed the laptop, pulled out the flash drive. “I’ll make sure Eric thanks you properly.”

As far as I was concerned, it had nothing to do with me.

Kirby’s sharp features carried the hint of a smile, but his voice was icy. “No need. Eric’s older brother was my comrade. I won’t stand by and watch their family collapse. Still, if that wastrel can’t even protect his inheritance, what good is he?”

I fell silent. I’d almost forgotten he had ties to Frost Pack.

I asked, “Then why come here…”

Was it just to hand me a flash drive? That seemed far too roundabout.

Kirby’s gaze shifted, catching my reflection in his eyes. “I needed a reason to see you.”
