Rania didn’t know how to feel about this. She had a mixed feeling when she had to leave Black Stone pack. This was what she wanted., She had been looking forward for the day when she finally didn’t need to see the people that she hated.

But, at the same time, even in her wildest dream, she had never imagined that she was gong to leave this way. Second mate was very rare, you could say that was unheard of.

It was even more daunting when it was the Mad King, who was her second mate. Fate knew how to play a joke.

“So, you are leaving?”

Rania lifted her head, and found her father was standing at the door, he crossed his arms, but no out of smugness, but discomfort. His brows creased, and he seemed to have a hard time to find the right word to say.

Ignoring his presence, Rania continued to pack her belongings that was not many. She could fit everything in one backpack.

“You should reject him,” Alaric said. His voice was stern, as if he was holding back a huge emotion.

Once again, Rania ignored him, she didn’t say a word, and pretended he was not even there. But, this method wouldn’t last long, because her father didn’t have the patient to deal with such attitude.

And she was right.

It didn’t take long before Alaric strode across the room and grabbed Rania’s arm, jolted her, so she would give her attention to him. The crease on his brows deepened.

“Reject him. You don’t want to go with him.” His voice was taut. He gritted his teeth, and his grip was painful.

However, Rania didn’t even grimace. This was not the first time someone hurt her. She was used to being hurt.

Still, Rania didn’t say anything. She let her father to grab her arm, hurt her. There was nothing new.

And when Alaric saw how defiant his daughter was; his temper flared. He raised his hand, and was about to slap her across the face.

But Rania looked at him in the eyes, she saw what was coming, but she didn’t even blink. She accepted it, which made Alaric stopped himself, as chill settled deep in his bone.

“What’s wrong with you?!” Alaric was angry. “Do you think your life will be better if you go with that Mad King?” Alaric hissed the word of Mad King, because he was still afraid there was someone heard him and reported what he just said.

“Everywhere is better than here,” Rania said coldly. This was the first time they talked after after a few months. Alaric had never come to check on her, which was something that Rania didn’t expect either.

They would only meet when they were in the common area, because as beta for the previous alpha, he would often visit the pack house, but it didn’t mean he would stop for a while, and check on his daughter.

“Don’t be ridiculous! You don’t know what you sign up for!”

Rania kept quiet again, she simply stared at her father, while holding back the pain from her arm, that her father held too tight.

“That man is the epitome of a madness. He killed the whole royal family because he was being greedy for the throne. Do you think he will cherish you and let you live for long?
