Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 79

The silence was suffocating, freezing the very air around them.

Darren’s eyes widened in shock, as if an earthquake had ripped through his mind.

“That’s impossible... you can’t be her...”

Hearing Darren’s trembling, hoarse accusation, Charlotte asked softly, “I look a lot like her, don’t I?”

Her casual reply sent invisible tremors through the entire house.

“Like her?” Darren echoed, frowning. Suddenly, it was as if a string snapped in his mind—a jolt of realization. He released Xena from his arms and closed the distance between him and Charlotte, his tone sharp and insistent. “Tell me—who are you, really?”

“I—”

Before Charlotte could finish, Mr. Nathan Harrington approached, leaning on his cane, his voice earnest and pleading. “Charlotte, I came here today to confirm your identity, and now I have. Will you still accept me as your grandfather?”

Charlotte swallowed back the lump in her throat and replied calmly, “Mr. Harrington, I’m afraid you’ve mistaken me for someone else.”

“Mistaken?” Nathan stepped closer, peering at her face with careful scrutiny. “You look exactly like my Charlotte. Exactly.”

Finally, Mr. Wood, who had been silent until now, spoke up. “Mr. Harrington, I need to be honest with you both. Ms. Lee here has had extensive plastic surgery.”

“Pla—plastic surgery?” Mr. Harrington’s face contorted in disbelief.

Following Charlotte’s earlier instructions, Mr. Wood explained, “Look at her skin—it’s as flawless as a newborn. That’s not something ordinary treatments can achieve. Her whole face—her features—have been completely altered.”

Across the room, Xena’s expression shifted from despair to relief. So she wasn’t Charlotte after all?

Darren’s gaze grew wary as he studied the woman in front of him.

He was convinced she wasn’t Charlotte. The real Charlotte was a master at feigning weakness and grace, while Lottie was sharp-eyed, strong, and moved with a fighter’s precision. They couldn’t possibly be the same person.

But even if she wasn’t Charlotte, anyone who could bake Pixel Sweetery’s signature pastries must know where the real Charlotte was hiding.

Mr. Harrington turned to Charlotte, his voice solemn. “Child, if you agree to become my granddaughter, I’ll give you twenty percent of the Harrington Group. Just tell me—will you accept?”

Charlotte, who’d never known the warmth of family, hesitated for a long time. Finally, she asked, “But I’m not your Charlotte.”

“My dear, all I need to know is whether you’re willing. The rest—I’ll handle.”

“I’m willing.”

Darren exploded. “Lottie! Do you even know what you’re saying?”

Charlotte smiled. “Mr. Harrington, neither you nor Mr. Nelson can offer me true security. I’ve always been destined to drift.”

“Your grandfather is offering me twenty percent of the Harrington Group to be his granddaughter. Can either of you match that?”

A dangerous glint sparked in Darren’s eyes. “Are you aware of the penalty for fraud?”
