From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 104

Olivia Bennett rushed through her morning routine, splashing her face with cold water and brushing her teeth at lightning speed. She rummaged through her closet, finally settling on a cherry-red Chanel-inspired suit. After a bit of fussing, she created a matching makeup look—just enough blush, a touch of red lipstick, and a little flick of eyeliner.

When she was done, she stood in front of the mirror, tilting her head this way and that, scrutinizing every angle. Only when she was sure everything was flawless did she step out into the bedroom.

Ethan Carter was waiting for her on the couch, scrolling through something on his phone. Olivia walked over and spun around in front of him. “Well? What do you think?” she asked, a playful smile tugging at her lips.

Ethan’s eyes widened a bit—he was clearly impressed. The red made her pale skin look even brighter, and her hair was twisted up with a cute little bow, making her look like some kind of fairytale princess—sweet, but with an undeniable elegance.

“You look amazing,” he said, his voice warm.

Olivia grinned, but she still had to double check, “Seriously?”

Ethan just smiled and nodded, “Seriously. Come on, Susan’s already got breakfast ready.”

He reached out his hand to her.

Olivia’s smile widened, and she slipped her hand into his, feeling a little flutter of excitement.

Downstairs, Susan was waiting in the kitchen, and as soon as she saw them, she hustled over and started setting breakfast on the table—pancakes, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and a big pot of coffee.

She glanced at Olivia, eyes twinkling. “Wow, Olivia, you look absolutely gorgeous today!”

Normally, Olivia would have just grinned and said thanks, but today she hesitated, doing a little twirl in front of Susan. “Really? Nothing looks off?”

Susan gave her a once-over, totally serious. “Nope, not a thing. The red is beautiful on you—it’s not every day we see you wearing such a bright color. You look like a porcelain doll, honestly.”

The sincerity in Susan’s voice made Olivia blush. She beamed, “Thank you, Susan.”

They sat down at the table, and once Susan left the room, Ethan leaned in and teased, “Didn’t trust my opinion?”

Olivia shrugged, grinning, “You know what they say—better safe than sorry.”

After all, she was about to meet Ethan’s family. It felt right to get a second opinion—Susan would definitely be honest if something was off.

Ethan rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t argue with her logic.

They finished breakfast in companionable silence, then grabbed their things and headed out to the car, bound for the Carter estate.
