From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 117

Adelina Lane rolled her eyes. “He means you’re an idiot.”

“Yeah, you must be,” Lance Carter chimed in, unable to resist. “Did you seriously not get that?”

Jasper Lane just stared at them, deadpan. Typical.

Honestly, he should’ve found a reason to skip this family dinner.

He shrugged them off and turned to Olivia Bennett instead. “I’m not talking to you guys. I’ll talk to Olivia. Olivia, you’re not like them, right? You’ll let me—uh—hang out with my little nephew, won’t you?”

He’d almost said “play with,” but caught himself just in time.

Luckily, Olivia hadn’t caught his slip-up.

She watched the others tease Jasper, then gave a vague answer, “It’s a bit early for that. We’ll see in the future.”

Jasper grinned and slapped the table. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Olivia blinked. “Wait, what?”

Was that what she meant?

Adelina laughed, waving her fork. “Enough, let’s eat.”

Finally, the conversation drifted back to normal, and dinner went on, light and easy, with plenty of laughter and second helpings of roast chicken and mashed potatoes.

Night fell.

The Carter Estate glowed with warm lights, the big house bathed in a gentle golden haze under the hazy moon. It looked peaceful, inviting—exactly how a family home should feel.

Olivia and Ethan decided to stay the night, rather than drive home.

Back in their guest room, Olivia got comfy on the bed, pulled out her iPad, and started catching up on her latest Netflix obsession.

Ethan finished a call out on the balcony, then came inside and saw her totally absorbed.

He sat down beside her. “What’re you watching?”

“Some new drama,” Olivia said with a little smile. “It’s actually pretty good.”

She rarely watched much TV, but it was a good way to unwind when she had nothing else to do.

Ethan didn’t bother her. He just sprawled on the couch, scrolling through his phone.
