From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 128

She thought, maybe she’d never get married again in this lifetime.

Chances are, Ethan Carter felt the same way.

They were like two grains of sand rolling around in the endless desert—without some wild, accidental storm, their paths would never cross.

Ethan Carter sat down across from her. “I asked Evan Dale to order food from Savory & Grace. Should be here any minute.”

Since the order was already made, Olivia Bennett just nodded. “Sounds good.”

After a moment, something popped into her head. “Oh, by the way—someone came looking for you earlier.”

Ethan raised an eyebrow. “Who?”

“You know, that… what’s her name…” Olivia racked her brain, but the name just wouldn’t come. “She came with Adelina to The Carter Family event. Aileen, I think? Ring any bells?”

When she’d shown up that day, Ethan hadn’t been around.

She wasn’t sure if he’d even seen her.

Ethan seemed to get it. “Catherine Blair.”

He said it like he was pretty sure.

Olivia nodded, continuing, “Yeah, you weren’t here, so she said she’d come back later.”

Ethan’s brow furrowed, his dark eyes clouding over. “She’s coming back?”

Olivia blinked and nodded, “Yeah. She had some files with her—probably something work-related.”

Ethan didn’t reply, but the look in his eyes stayed unreadable.

Olivia, curious, propped her chin on her hand. “Is she another Olivia, too?”

She remembered that at The Carter Family event, she’d called Lily George “Grandma.”

“No,” Ethan replied, his voice distant, almost cold.

Well, clearly not another Olivia. Olivia puffed up her cheeks, thinking she’d figured something out:

That Aileen girl—she liked Ethan Carter.

That’s why she’d looked so shocked and disappointed when he didn’t answer the door.
