Her eyes flickered with mischief. “Honestly, being famous isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. If you blow up, I’ll have to sneak around just to see you. And with all that work, we might only get together once or twice a year.”
Olivia Bennett grinned. “That’s not really a problem. If you can’t come to me, I’ll go to you. Wherever you’re filming, I’ll show up and crash the set.”
Nannie Bruce stroked her chin, pretending to ponder. “Fair point. But, Olivia, aren’t we getting a bit ahead of ourselves here?”
Olivia shook her head. “Not at all. You’ve already finished shooting your scenes, right? The show will be out soon.”
“The lead actress is still filming. I’m just a small supporting role, so I wrapped early.”
“It won’t be long now,” Olivia said, looking up. “By the way, was the lead Aileen? I remember you mentioned her, but I forgot.”
Nannie nodded, a little wistful. “Yep, that’s her. Aileen’s amazing—everyone says she’s got some serious backing, but she’s so down-to-earth and polite. She really throws herself into her work. I get why she’s so popular.”
“Not everyone could pull it off like she does. I really respect her.”
Olivia listened, genuinely interested.
Time slipped by.
4:30 PM.
Olivia finished up her work, said her goodbyes to Helen Adams and the others, and left with Nannie.
Nannie drove, and the two of them headed straight to Savory & Grace, a cozy little bistro they both loved. They ordered all their favorite dishes—mac and cheese, Caesar salad, buffalo wings, and even a slice of New York cheesecake to share.
Nannie raised her glass. “Here’s to us! It’s been way too long.”
Olivia clinked her glass against Nannie’s.
Nannie tossed back her drink in one go. “Delicious!”
