From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 186

Olivia Bennett glared at him, her patience snapping. “What the hell do you want?”

Daniel Gill stared down at her, searching her face. “Did you really marry Ethan Carter?”

“Yeah, I did,” Olivia shot back, her voice steady.

It wasn’t like it was some big secret. If Daniel was bringing it up, that just meant he already knew. No point hiding it.

Still, Daniel felt like a swarm of ants was crawling under his skin, gnawing away at him. “Why’d you marry him?”

“I don’t need a million reasons to get married,” she replied, her tone breezy, but every word felt like a punch to Daniel’s gut.

“Do you even realize who Ethan Carter is?” he pressed, voice low.

Olivia just stared at him.

Daniel’s eyes darkened. “I don’t know why he picked you, but he’s not good for you, Olivia. Someone like him—you can’t win. You know Carter family, right? They basically run Manhattan. Ethan could have any heiress he wanted, from the Upper East Side to the Hamptons. Why would he settle for someone with nothing to offer him?”

Maybe Ethan was interested in her for now, for whatever reason. But guys like him—guys born with everything—never stick around. When that interest fades, he’ll be gone, and he won’t care how much you’re left hurting.

Olivia let out a short, cold laugh, her eyes full of scorn. “So he’s not a good choice, but you are?”

Daniel flinched, struggling for words. “At least I wouldn’t hurt you. Listen to me, Olivia. Divorce him. Get away from him.”

“Divorce him, and then what?” Olivia arched an eyebrow, her smile biting. “So I can be your side chick?”
