"Beatty, where are you?" A man's voice echoed through the phone.
Beatty's eyes lit up, her grip tightening on Olivia Bennett's arm. "It's Damian—he called!"
Olivia mustered a patient smile. "Yes, that’s Damian."
She took the phone from Beatty and spoke into it, "Mr. Carter? You’re a relative, right? Could you come pick her up?"
The man sounded anxious. "Yes, I’ll be there as soon as I can!"
Olivia quickly gave him the address and hung up.
"Damian," Beatty murmured, still staring at the phone, confused as to why the voice had stopped.
Olivia gently pulled her closer. "Damian will be here soon. Are you cold? Let’s go inside and wait."
Beatty nodded, rubbing her hands together for emphasis. "Cold."
Olivia led her in, calling out to Helen Adams, "Helen, could you grab a warm, long coat for Beatty?"
Helen nodded and was about to leave when a familiar voice called out.
"Olivia!"
Olivia turned toward the door.
Standing there were Carmen Gates and Lavinia Bennett.
Helen stiffened at the sight of Lavinia, instantly on guard. "Olivia, you go ahead. I’ll handle these two."
Olivia shot her a calm, reassuring look. "Take Beatty inside. It’s okay."
Carmen and Lavinia heard everything, but Olivia didn’t care to pretend.
Helen hesitated, but trusted Olivia’s judgment. She took Beatty’s hand to lead her away, but Beatty clung to Olivia’s arm.
