Beatty was standing by, practically echoing Damian, “Take it, take it…”
Olivia Bennett pressed her lips together, hesitating for a second. “Alright, I’ll take it then.”
Damian Franklin nodded encouragingly, clearly hoping she’d accept.
In the end, Olivia gave in and took the money he insisted on giving her.
Damian grinned, satisfied. “Great, we’ll get going now. And hey, if you ever need anything, you can always reach out.”
Olivia nodded politely, just enough to be polite but not too eager.
Honestly, she couldn’t imagine a situation where she’d actually call Damian for help. But she kept that thought firmly to herself.
Damian turned to Beatty. “Alright, time to go. Say goodbye to Olivia.”
Beatty immediately waved, her voice chirpy. “Bye, Olivia! I’m leaving, or else… Damian’s gonna scold me. He’s good at that.”
She shot Damian a wary glance as she spoke.
Damian just sighed, pretending not to notice.
Olivia couldn’t help but laugh, and she waved back, her voice soft, “Goodbye, Beatty.”
Damian led Beatty out of the studio.
They’d barely walked a few steps before Beatty turned around, looking reluctant. “Olivia…”
Damian glanced back at the studio too, a small smile tugging at his lips as he squeezed Beatty’s hand. “We’ll see her again. For now, let’s get you home. We need to stop by the hospital and pick up your things—no shots today, I promise.”
The moment she heard the word “shots,” Beatty sobered up immediately.
She hunched her shoulders. “No shots.”
“No shots. Promise,” Damian assured her, hurrying her along toward the car.
Back inside the studio, Helen Adams watched the pair disappear down the street, then crossed her arms and let out a low whistle. “Wow. That’s a real Ms. Bennett move.”
She shook her head in disbelief, “Throwing around fifty grand like it’s pocket change. Some people just don’t see money the same way.”
Olivia smiled. “You could try being Ms. Bennett yourself.”
Helen blinked, her expression deadly serious. “Olivia, you don’t need to test me. I’m with you for life. No doubts about it.”
